AIBU to say no to these sausages?

DH has found some Richmond vegetarian sausages in the freezer that went out of date in June last year. On the back of the packaging it says freeze 2 days before use by date and then consume within 1 month. He thinks they’ll be fine! I’m worried that I’ll be spending the next two nights looking at the bathroom door or worse the inside of the toilet bowl? Tell me IANBU please

They’ll be fine 👍

RJnomore1 · 10/02/2022 20:06

Decinitbr fine.

HiJenny35 · 10/02/2022 20:07

Absolutely fine

RJnomore1 · 10/02/2022 20:07

Oops! Definitely fine 😂that’s my typing sober too

Flowersandbread · 10/02/2022 20:07

I'd eat them, I mean I wouldn't cos I'm not vegetarian but I'd eat something frozen for 8m

AuntyJanet · 10/02/2022 20:08

Cook them well and it’ll be fine.

Sideswiped · 10/02/2022 20:08

As long as they haven't got freezer burn I'd eat them/

rainyskylight · 10/02/2022 20:08

I’d eat them as long as they weren’t completely burnt by frost.

Coughee · 10/02/2022 20:08

I wouldn't unless I was starving and I had no choice. Its use by not best before and its waaaaay out of date. A week or so I'd chance it but not months and months. Why risk it?

Matilda1981 · 10/02/2022 20:08

They’ll be fine - as someone else said I wouldn’t eat them as I’m not a veggie but I’d eat normal sausages!

Hercisback · 10/02/2022 20:08

They'll be fine.

babyjellyfish · 10/02/2022 20:08

Been in the freezer and not even real meat? You're overthinking this OP.

MulticolourTulips · 10/02/2022 20:09

It's just the taste and texture that deteriorates. They'll be ok

Creativebee · 10/02/2022 20:09

Really? I tend to stick to use by dates, I have a “fear” of getting sick and these are like 7 months out of date.

OP posts:
Mol1628 · 10/02/2022 20:09

The texture probably won’t be as nice but doubt they’ll make you ill

TestingTestingWonTooFree · 10/02/2022 20:10

I think they’d be fine.

Scarby9 · 10/02/2022 20:10

The whole point of freezing is that the item is preserved.
I wouldn't eat them if they had been defrosted anf refrozen at any point, or if they had freezer burn, but otherwise they will be fine.

RomeoMcFlourish · 10/02/2022 20:10

Live dangerously OP! I’d eat them, I’ve definitely eaten things that have been kept in the freezer for much longer than that.

Creativebee · 10/02/2022 20:11

Ok…I guess I’m having sausages tonight Confused, I will say a small prayer and hope I survive Grin

labyrinthlaziness · 10/02/2022 20:12

They'll be fine IMO.

MrsWinters · 10/02/2022 20:12

Sawdust doesn’t go out of date

Latenightreader · 10/02/2022 20:13

The use by is if they are not frozen. They’ve been suspended since then, and as a pp said, they might lose a bit of flavour and the texture might not be as good. Freezer burn would be a bigger risk, if they are clear of that they should be fine.

labyrinthlaziness · 10/02/2022 20:13

Do let us know tomorrow if you have the shits though...

MaryShelley1818 · 10/02/2022 20:13

I'd eat them 😋

HerRoyalHappiness · 10/02/2022 20:13

You'll be fine
