Are there any home workouts I can do which dont make me sweaty?

I hate getting sweaty and needing to shower afterwards when I've already taken a shower. Are there any workouts I can do which won't make me sweat but will still help?

Isn’t it more the effort you out in and your own personal characteristics that dictate how much you sweat? I’m dripping after ten minutes of hoovering but can do thirty minutes on a treadmill without breaking a sweat.

ladydimitrescu · 08/02/2022 18:39

I don't think there's a specific non sweaty workout 🧐

BIWI · 08/02/2022 18:40

Why don't you do a workout before your shower then?!

ohhooh · 08/02/2022 18:40

Can you workout before you shower? That's what I do.

Cosmosgrowinmygarden · 08/02/2022 18:40

Yoga?

onemouseplace · 08/02/2022 18:43

Pilates and barre are good for non sweaty workouts.

Lillyhatesjaz · 08/02/2022 18:44

Tai chi

Workout before you shower...?

Workingoutornot · 08/02/2022 19:02

It's inconvenient to plan working out and showering around one another, and it's not good to wash your hair too often either, so I'd prefer not to get my hair sweaty all the time if I want to exercise regularly.

@Cosmosgrowinmygarden @onemouseplace thank you, what do yoga and pilates help with? Weight loss or building muscle or?

I don't get sweaty on the stationary bike, but I still do it before I shower.

Dizzyhedgehog · 08/02/2022 19:16

You could build an indoor swimming pool and then do water aerobics...

Or try the walking programmes on YouTube. Think it's called "Walk at home" with a very talkative American lady.

work out, outside in the cold?

Againstmachine · 08/02/2022 20:10

Whilst sweat isnt a indicator of how hard you are working out as people sweat at different rates. It tends to be if you are sweating you are exerting yourself. Which you want to lose weight you are going to have to.

You do seem to be making life hard for yourself get a shower after the workout the inconvenient to plan is just a load of rubbish.

What?! Whats the point in doing anything if you're not going to work hard

😂😂

It sounds like you need to.optimise your diet for body change (if thats your aim). I dont think you're going to get there with exercise....

icedancerlenny · 08/02/2022 20:15

I don’t think I’ve ever read anything so crazy.

ErrolTheDragon · 08/02/2022 20:18

what do yoga and pilates help with?

I'm not certain about yoga, but Pilates is great for core strength, stability, flexibility and also can involve quite a bit of load bearing/strength on the arms and upper body.
It's the sort of thing where you may be making small, subtle movements but if you're doing it right your muscles know about it for the next few days.
But it's not aerobic exercise, won't burn many calories. I do a lot of walking including some fast and/or hills which works for me.

The other thing you could try is some sort of HIIT workout. I find that as the high intensity bursts are each short, with a little time between, they're not necessarily as sweaty as continuous effort.

ghostyslovesheets · 08/02/2022 20:19

slow walking? looong looong slow walks? at home?

We have very different experiences of HIIT!

RJnomore1 · 08/02/2022 20:21

Yoga and Pilates have me sweating like crazy with the effort of stretching and holding…

CristinaYangismySpiritAnimal · 08/02/2022 20:23

What do you want to get out of exercising?

MyNameIsAngelicaSchuyler · 08/02/2022 20:24

I’m drenched with sweat at the end of yoga

Such an odd question. If you want the benefits of exercise it’s good to embrace the sweat.

waitinginthecar · 08/02/2022 20:24

Definitely Pilates

UnexpectedItemInShaggingArea · 08/02/2022 20:24

Work out in the garden.

HunterHearstHelmsley · 08/02/2022 20:26

What are your aims?

You're likely to get sweaty if your aim is to lose weight or build strength.

I've never found it inconvenient to work my showers and exercise around each other. I work out every day, I wash my hair every 3 days, I have a shower after I exercise.
