Are there any home workouts I can do which dont make me sweaty?

I hate getting sweaty and needing to shower afterwards when I've already taken a shower. Are there any workouts I can do which won't make me sweat but will still help?

Another vote for T'ai Chi - was one of the aspects that got me hooked - no going puce in the face or sweating !

You do sound like you would like to exercise without actually doing anything. 😂Try online classes for pilates - working on core strength and flexibility, it's all done on the mat. There are free lessons on YouTube to get you started. I don't get sweaty with pilates. For strength and toning, try bands and small free weights - again you will find videos on you tube for beginners. A strenuous session might make you sweat, but if you are in the house all day, you could for example do several very short sessions in the day. For cardio, you will get sweaty - you'll have to time those sessions with a shower. Why is it so difficult to plan?

I have a fan set up in front of home treadmill/ stepper. This helps a little with face/ head sweat.

If you don’t get sweaty doing a barre or pilates you’re doing it wrong. Grin It’s perfectly possible to do a whole barre of simple moves and not get sweaty but that does mean you don’t know what you’re doing and aren’t taking the moves to their proper fullness of motion. Nice way to stretch a bit but it isn’t a workout.

You need to get sweaty or you've not done enough!

PrivateHall · 08/02/2022 20:37

I sweat buckets when working out, I wouldn't feel there was much point if I didn't. I do always shower after but sure it only takes a few minutes. Obviously I don't wash my hair every time! What are your actually goals for working out, what are you hoping to achieve?

JennysWell · 08/02/2022 20:42

It’s cold outside at the moment, so walking, hillwalking, outdoor boot camp type stuff is a lot less sweaty than indoors. You do risk injury if not warmed up properly, and also need extra layers when you cool down.
It’s a lot less sweaty doing couch to 5k outdoors instead of on a treadmill

In reality that's not going to get her any of her goals

Surely a lot depends on your environment.

Spinning: dripping
Pilates: warm
Kettle bells: dripping
Bodypump: damp
Running in winter: damp back of the neck
Running in summer:dripping
Walking up 3 flights of stairs: warm

Your lucky you don’t have to wash your hair, my hair is soaked after a workout I have no choice but to wash it everytime, it’s really frustrating, if I didn’t workout I would only have to wash my hair max 3 times a week but because I exercise I have to wash it every day and don’t get me started on the blow drying and straightening, as if I let my long hair dry naturally it looks and feels awful.
AmberLynn1536 · 08/02/2022 20:46

You’re not your!

Chely · 08/02/2022 20:50

I do weightlifting at home, this time of year it is quite cold and I don't get sweaty in there. Can lift in just my undies in summer and still get sweaty.

LlamaLucy · 08/02/2022 20:54

Hahah I’m glad it’s not just me. I don’t have to wash my hair every day - I have thick hair and can wash it twice a week. So, I time my workouts for hair-wash days 😅 and I GO FOR IT!! Make it a very sweaty workout so you only have to do it twice a week

NamechangeApril21 · 08/02/2022 20:55

I'm a sweaty bitch after yoga

ABitOfAShitShow · 08/02/2022 21:03

Weights - look up Caroline Girvan on YouTube.

Yoga - look up Adriene on YouTube.

P.volve - about £15 a month for a subscription and you need to buy some gear but it’s very effective, short workouts and I’m never sweaty.

giveyou2reasons · 08/02/2022 21:25

If you exercise only to a degree that you never break a sweat, you can definitely burn some calories, stretch your muscles, and have some benefits, but it's won't burn as many calories. Not sweating usually means it's not as much of a cardio workout.

It's better to do your workout before your shower, if that's why you're avoiding sweating. However, if you just don't want to wash your hair, that may not be a problem. The sweat in my hair doesn't have the same type of sweaty smell as some of my body sweat. Within reason, I could just pat my hair dry and leave the shower for another time. It's more pleasant to shower, though, so I'd try to schedule my workout before shower time.

konasana · 08/02/2022 21:47

I suspect if you do not sweat, it isn't a work out. The best bet is to workout pre-shower unfortunately!

Does one have to wash hair after sweating

tiktokontheclock · 08/02/2022 22:01

Pilates

Concestor · 08/02/2022 22:04

Yoga and weights aren't sweaty for me. But I don't get sweaty at gym classes either, as long as I'm not doing heavy cardio.

MoominFeatures · 08/02/2022 22:18

A cote here for low res upper body weights with dumbbells, alternating with legs/flutes/abs routines using resistance bands and (same) weights…but even with a strength-focused workout using those I wouldn’t dare promise zero risk of dampness.

I appreciate that everyone’s body is different but I was super-surprised by the recommendation you try HIIT (as made by a PP). I find the sweatiest workouts for me are HIIT, tabata, circuits, spin, aerobics (with or without a step)…
