A footballer Kurt Zouma (apologies if already been mentioned here) has been videoed kicking his cat and chasing it yet West Ham says they've condemned his actions and he's apologised.

AIBU to be disgusted with him?

foul foul man

He also slapped it round the face and onto the floor. Poor cat

Newfluff · 08/02/2022 13:51

And as a pp said in another thread on this. There was outrage when a teacher punched a horse. She lost her job

rubydoobydoo · 08/02/2022 13:53

There's a thread in The Litter Tray with a link to a petition, not sure if I can post again as there was a problem with the link being blocked.

The video emerged less than 24 hours ago. What is your basis for thinking he's "got away with it"?

ilovesooty · 08/02/2022 13:56

He should have his contract terminated.
I'm disgusted that the police aren't pursuing it.

user1471517900 · 08/02/2022 13:57

I voted YABU mainly because clearly nobody will think that kicking a cat is a good thing. So the question is largely pointless

It's being dealt with internally by his club.

The police have said they won't be investigating.

@Lockheart - an apology and his club are disgusted with him - which means nothing. Ergo - got away with it

The RSPCA are investigating

Lockheart · 08/02/2022 14:00

@Gonnagetgoing that doesn't mean it's the end of it. Give it time for the system to work before you start claiming he's got away with it.

Look at that teacher who hit her horse - it took several months between the incident and prosecution.

lucywho123 · 08/02/2022 14:02

He'll get away with it. Makes me sick. If anyone ever kicked my cat, I'd probably do jail time for whatever I did to retaliate

And his apology - only sorry that he got caught. Gawd only knows what the cats go through in their household that dont get caught on camera :(

SheldonesqueTheBstard · 08/02/2022 14:05

Apparently his cats are loved and cherished.

I would not like to be loved and cherished by this sorry excuse of a man.

Or the pitiful excuse of the human who filmed it.

wanttomarryamillionaire · 08/02/2022 14:15

Is anyone really that suprised though? Hes a premiership footballer, they are moronic arseholes who think they can do as they please. I hope he gets charged with animal cruelty.

Gonnagetgoing · 08/02/2022 14:50

@lucywho123 - he should get those poor cats taken away from him.

Just makes me furious that other idiots will see and copy because it looks okay and/or funny Angry

@SheldonesqueTheBstard - loved and cherished my arse.

The cats will be petrified of him. His kids obviously will think it’s ok to treat animals like this too. Sad

He’s a premiership footballer - they can do whatever the fuck they want apparently.

SheldonesqueTheBstard · 08/02/2022 15:05

Aye OP.

And as much as he spouts the cats are loved and cherished, I believe that as much as I believe it was an isolated incident.

Whoever was in the same room as that is as much to blame for allowing it to happen.

Those poor animals.

YANBU.

PS There are already threads in Chat, Pets and The Litter Tray.

LeevMarie · 08/02/2022 15:26

Makes me absolutely sick. Hopefully some footage of him being kicked about will emerge soon. . .

MorningStarling · 08/02/2022 15:30

YANBU. It's bizarre really, people are going on about a comedian telling a joke, or a footballer being arrested for rape, but don't seem to give a shit about one being cruel to a cat.

Yeah you're right, there's only multiple threads on here and tens of thousands of comments on twitter.

@LeevMarie - its online if you look for it. The poor cat looks terrified.

That is utterly shocking.

It's about time animal abuse was taken more seriously.

Footballers are idolised by many. Looked up to as role models. Sadistic or abusive behaviour should not be tolerated.

For anyone who doesn't think it matters because it's not a human and 'just a cat', It's worth remembering that animal abuse is often a warning sign of someone with potential to commit violent crimes against humans.
