To think removable pads in bras are the work of the devil?

Just spent a sweaty 15 minutes wrestling the sodding pads back into place in my sports bra after washing. They are a horrible foamy texture which actually gives me goosebumps when my nails brush against it as I scrabble to get them back into place. You have to manipulate them through a tiny little hole in the side of the bra. They always want to fold over on themselves. They never seem to go back properly, but if you remove them it’s nipple-tastic.

Why don’t they just sew the buggers in?

See also swimsuits / bikinis etc.
Honestly I do not understand why they make them like this! Why would you ever want to remove them and wrestle them back?

Yes!!!

Triotriotrio · 05/02/2022 12:57

Ya Definitely NBU!!! Unfortunately I crew no boobs so I'm stuck with the fuckers

WhyPaulMemory · 05/02/2022 13:00

God yes! They always fold over on themselves in the wash and are a complete bastard to put back into place. I don’t want to remove them ever, please just sew them in!

Preworkouttingle · 05/02/2022 13:00

Agree. Just make the cups from thicker material!

Pigeonsdontliketrucks · 05/02/2022 13:02

YANBU!
Thank god it’s not just me.
And also the cringy foamy texture. Hideous.
Shuddering just thinking about it.

Momicrone · 05/02/2022 13:04

I hate them, what are they for? I try and avoid them at all costs

Thelnebriati · 05/02/2022 13:07

I got so fed up with them I sewed them in.

Momicrone · 05/02/2022 13:09

But whats the point of them in the first place, why pad boobs?

elQuintoConyo · 05/02/2022 13:12

I sew mine in, just a few stitches at each corner.

Put on bra, wriggle pads about so they're in the place you want them, put a safety pin through the three corners, and maybe one across the nipple *be careful of your nips!

Take off, sew, ta-da!

maffhew · 05/02/2022 13:16

@Momicrone

But whats the point of them in the first place, why pad boobs?
If you don't want your nips showing then you need padding, no?
whoopstheregoesmyshouldet · 05/02/2022 13:18

OMG yes. Lumpy boobs in my swimming costume. Discovered these little swines I didn't know were there

Momicrone · 05/02/2022 13:19

Oh it's the nips thing, I hadn't really thought of that weirdly in all these years! I guess cos I wear layers

lillelilou · 05/02/2022 13:23

Oh yes definitely bloody annoying and pointless bloody things. I just picked a bra to wear just now and it's missing a pad. It's probably in the black hole of our washing machine where the single socks are hiding!

BogRollBOGOF · 05/02/2022 13:29

On a related tangent, may I add the useless horror of "secret support"
Being small of nork it adds nothing.
Gives no support to the large of nork either.
Makes wearing a bra for padding/ support/ shape bloody uncomfortable.
Why oh why oh why???

But yy to the annoying removable pad.

GladAllOver · 05/02/2022 13:31

Why pretend you don't have nipples? Everyone has them.

Pyri · 05/02/2022 13:32

I remove them and throw them away. Rarely have nipple problems!

Chloemol · 05/02/2022 13:32

Yes, s9 now I wear the bra without them, so much more comfortable

CounsellorTroi · 05/02/2022 13:35

Agree but does sewing the pads in stop them from moving about e.g in the washing machine?

Nixbox · 05/02/2022 13:36

We were talking about this in work recently - everyone preferred to choose between an actual padded bra or non-padded.

gogohm · 05/02/2022 13:37

I like them in swim wear because I remove them, I have enough natural coverage! Swimsuits from most shops don't come in cup sizes so they mean I don't have to pay for the more expensive ones from specialist suppliers

Svara · 05/02/2022 13:39

I just take them out and leave them out. Not bothered by nipples, I already have bra and t-shirt to cover them somewhat, I don't need padding too. When I was a child my mother wore unpadded bras, or no bra, not sure why nipples are offensive now?

StatisticallyChallenged · 05/02/2022 13:44

They're good for correcting asymmetry - not the only reason, but a common one.

StatisticallyChallenged · 05/02/2022 13:45

But they work best for that if the main cup is still lightly padded, then the pads are removable in addition

haaaaaaalp · 05/02/2022 13:54

Yes omg please sew the fuckers in!

EatYourVegetables · 05/02/2022 13:58

I like padded bras.

I hate adjusting the padding.

I’m too busy to alter my clothing. I want to buy stuff that works.
