To think removable pads in bras are the work of the devil?

Just spent a sweaty 15 minutes wrestling the sodding pads back into place in my sports bra after washing. They are a horrible foamy texture which actually gives me goosebumps when my nails brush against it as I scrabble to get them back into place. You have to manipulate them through a tiny little hole in the side of the bra. They always want to fold over on themselves. They never seem to go back properly, but if you remove them it’s nipple-tastic.

Why don’t they just sew the buggers in?

See also swimsuits / bikinis etc.
Honestly I do not understand why they make them like this! Why would you ever want to remove them and wrestle them back?

Comfort is more important than the possibility of someone detecting my nipples, so I always remove the padding. It would be best if they offered the same clothing item with and without, but I imagine this simplifies things for them, one product instead of two.

Svara · 05/02/2022 14:12

There may be an increase in girls and young women using sports bras to change their shape under clothing, who wouldn't want padding. If padding was sewn in it might drive more to use damaging binders instead.

Sausagesausagesausage · 05/02/2022 14:13

I hate them. I've got a sports bra with them in and I can't remove them for love nor money so know the pads are just scrunched up. So annoying.

Aquamarine1029 · 05/02/2022 14:13

They are pure evil. I always take them out and throw them away.

haaaaaaalp · 05/02/2022 14:16

my nips are massive and unsightly so would rather they were covered - wish they'd just sew them in

Oblomov22 · 05/02/2022 14:28

I like them. I don't mind re-adjusting them after a wash. I've always had padded bras since I was young. I don't like having my nipples on show and I don't like any nipples on show, man or woman really.

UseOfWeapons · 05/02/2022 14:42

I hate padding, so remove it when I buy it. It’s impossible to buy it without pads, I’ve found, but it is the work of Beelzebub to get them in or out. The only time I’d ever use the pads is it I was wearing something clingy, and my nipples would be standing out like 2 aspirins on an ironing board.

Gizacluethen · 05/02/2022 14:45

Sometimes I like them in or out.
You have to push the inside corner through the hole and grab it with that part of the bra then just pull it in and it sits right. Easier to do when they come out the washer, don't let them dry folded up or they're harder to sit right.

Zazdar · 05/02/2022 14:49

I always remove them and leave them out.

Porthia · 05/02/2022 17:31

Thank god it’s not just me! If I could buy sports bras that are thick enough to hide the nipples but without pads I would.
Manufacturers please take note!!!

Totally agree, utterly pointless invention that just get on my tits (excuse the pun!) Why can’t they just be fixed in place pre-purchase so you don’t end up with lumpy, odd shaped boobs???

DillDanding · 05/02/2022 17:37

I hate padded bras and bikinis with a passion. Also moulded cup bras which seem to be taking over the bra world.

I’m a 32DD. Not small but not huge. I don’t want boobs that look like torpedoes.

formalineadeline · 05/02/2022 17:37

Just buy a bra with moulded cups instead?

SGBK4682 · 05/02/2022 17:45

Agree they're a pain. Worse when they are initially covered with some silky stuff, presumably stuck on, which eventually falls off. After that the foam pad is hell to move around inside the cup because it sticks like mad. I like padding not being too well endowed. Never realised till now they were intended to hide nipples!

MushMonster · 05/02/2022 17:46

100% agree!

LittleSnakes · 05/02/2022 17:49

Oh my fucking god yes.

Itsnotdeep · 05/02/2022 17:53

Mine move around while I'm doing yoga! I have to take them out.

I don't know why they put them in - everyone has nipples, it's not a secret!

CSIblonde · 05/02/2022 18:25

Even when I had small boobs (long ago) I removed the pads for good & cut out the pocket as they look far too obvious. Cotton Wonderbra's without the pads do wonder for small chests. I actually still like underwired bra's for the uplift.

alfagirl73 · 05/02/2022 18:26

I have found my people! I have been having this battle myself and am in the process of sewing them in because having to wrestle with the little bastards at 5am when I'm getting ready for the gym is far from entertaining.

I don't mind them being there because I do find they help just keep things "under control" from a support perspective - don't care if anyone knows I have nipples - but yeah - why can't they be attached in a way that they stay put?!

TheMarzipanDildo · 05/02/2022 18:30

Agreed x1000. Wtf are the manufactures on?

BlackberrySky · 05/02/2022 18:32

It's practically impossible to find a high impact sports bra that doesn't have either removable pads or that other work of Beelzebub, adjustable strap formation. So you can either have the pads falling out in the wash, or the straps coming undone.

TheFormidableMrsC · 05/02/2022 18:33

I take them out as I don't need any extra padding. Pain in the arse they are.

ClariceQuiff · 05/02/2022 18:35

I don't want padding of any sort in my bras, so the removable pads are a waste as far as I am concerned - I take them out as soon as I buy the bra.

bakermummy21 · 05/02/2022 18:41

They drive me crazy too. The last time I washed them I just couldn't be bothered to put them back properly so just slung them in the drawer. They'll probably remain there never to be worn again!

maffhew · 05/02/2022 19:05

not sure why nipples are offensive now?

Who said they're offensive?
