I realised I have no idea what other people do. For transparency, ours is 10% (household income £5000, mortgage £500. But think we might move house and up the % but then that feels scary. But maybe I’m being a wuss.

Just interested in what others do x

StruggleStreet · 31/01/2022 17:36

CrimbleCrumble1 · 31/01/2022 17:38

No mortgage now but in the late 90’s our mortgage was 52% of salary.

Mybestyear · 31/01/2022 17:38

25% which includes overpayment. But depends on your other outgoings too as to how much you can afford.

Onionpatch · 31/01/2022 17:38

Its 100% of my salary which scares me.
But 30% of our household income.

About 25%. Hoping to overpay and get it down quicker.

twinkie100 · 31/01/2022 17:40

15% net income. We are thinking of moving within the next couple of years and it will be more like 25% of net, which feels a bit scary but will be doable once nursery fees stop
