To say I've found a loo brush solution

I think I've found a solution to the famous mumsnet hatred and fear of a loo brush. Just replaced my old one with this little beauty

www.amazon.co.uk/Silicone-Holder%EF%BC%8CBathroom-Cleaning-Handle%EF%BC%8CToilet-Anti-drip/dp/B094R8ZK4N/ref=sr_1_21?keywords=silicone+toilet+brush&tag=mumsnetforu03-21&qid=1643634715&sr=8-21

Silicon, no where for dirt to hide, easy to clean and tiny - takes up barely any space. Thoughts?

Just use bleach. My teenage boys know how to use a clump of toilet paper and bleach and clean their skid marks off. No way am I cleaning their mess.

RampantIvy · 02/02/2022 08:12

We are a house of adults so we don't get the dried on crust that is difficult to clean as everyone cleans after themselves. Which is probably why the silicon loo brush works for us.

Same here. If grandkids are here I just check after.

I clicked on it and it’s one I’ve purchased. It is the cause of my limesacle build up. It’s not good enough for scrubbing. I’ve just purchased at £2.00 one from Sainsburys and is is brilliant. I’ve seen it on Amazon Uk for around £7.98 under the brand name Mr Siga. I clean my toilet bowl daily and I do use toilet bleach. In short the silicone ones are shit.
shouldistop · 02/02/2022 11:30

Maybe it's the shape of my toilet but we don't have any need for a toilet brush at all.
Smug smiley ☺️

VanGoghsDog · 02/02/2022 11:31

Bleach doesn't get rid of limescale though, it just bleaches it.

ZeroFuchsGiven · 02/02/2022 11:32

They really are rubbish!

Davros · 02/02/2022 11:45

betwixtlives pity me not. He's got Parkinsons and takes medication which fucks up his innerds. He tries to deal with his own blockages, sometimes more successfully than others. I mop up if I have to

We don't get limescale here.
Cherrysoup · 02/02/2022 12:10

Horrifying that some posters are cleaning up after their DH/teenage kids.

The only reason I use a toilet brush is to scrub off limescale once I’ve thrown down remover. Bleach is the way forward, it dissolves it as well as turning poo white!

RampantIvy · 02/02/2022 12:26

Luckily we don't have a limescale problem, but I can see why a silicon brush would be useless for that.

We used to have awful limescale in London. You had to chip the stuff off.

ponkydonkey · 02/02/2022 12:26

@Flabbyflabberghasted

On another note - what age do your kids learn to effectively remove poo marks etc from loo?
Never apparently They just get bigger 😱
ZeroFuchsGiven · 02/02/2022 13:25

Who on earth uses a loo brush for blockages? That really is not what they are designed for!

Davros · 02/02/2022 17:02

You've got to stick something down there, it might as well be something that's supposed to go inside the bog

hugr · 03/02/2022 07:38

We have limescale here and there's no way any toilet brush is getting it off, silicone or otherwise, by itself. But with limescale remover my silicone brush gets it off fine. I live in the Chilterns and have some of the hardest water.

Just boil a kettle, pour it in and flush - blockages sorted!
Davros · 03/02/2022 09:43

I'll try that

LindaLaHugh · 03/02/2022 10:26

I've converted to toilet roll, brush just made my arse red raw

Yes, I have one too. Brilliant idea and so much more efficient than a traditional toilet brush.
Pliudev · 07/02/2022 19:41

I bought my friend a silicone one for Christmas. Yes you read that right. She was having an new bathroom and I told her how brilliant they are and she asked for one. I wrapped it beautifully.
