Just feeling a little dispondent. Day 8 (counting day of symptoms as zero in accordance with the guidance) and still testing positive. Any adults with symptoms who tested negative after 5 full days?

Not many people do when talking to many friends / relatives who have it currently ( all except youngest kids are vax too).

Doesn’t seem to relate to how I’ll you feel either. One person quite unwell tested neg by day 5 but was too unwell to come out of isolation and my friend up kid tested pos till day 10 with a bit of a sore throat !

daimbarsatemydogsbone · 27/01/2022 10:44

I didn't test neg until day 9 from my first positive test and that was day 14 from the onset of symptoms.

gobbledygoook · 27/01/2022 10:45

I did! Negative on days 6/7.

daimbarsatemydogsbone · 27/01/2022 10:45

I am fully jabbed and it was just like a nasty cold for me.

LadyFanny · 27/01/2022 10:46

Most people I know are taking 10-12 days to test negative. I only know one person who tested negative on day 6.

Somethingsnappy · 27/01/2022 10:47

I did. Positive on Monday, negative by Friday and felt absolutely normal again. Think it was my second bout though since the beginning of the pandemic, if that affects things.

EvilPea · 27/01/2022 10:50

Dh was still testing positive on day 14

OneForTheRoadThen · 27/01/2022 10:52

Nope! I was negative on 7 and 8. My 5 year old was negative by day 5 but couldn't go anywhere as I was still testing positive.

LaMontser · 27/01/2022 11:02

@EvilPea

Dh was still testing positive on day 14
I’ve heard this before. Why was he still testing after day 10? Was it just out of interest? Or because he works with clinically vulnerable people in a hospital? Because I thought that after day 10 he would be good to go anyway.

That’s how it is in NI (with exception for some healthcare workers). But yet some people keep on testing.

purpleme12 · 27/01/2022 11:14

I am day 10
Not tested today but yesterday it was still positive.
So no point testing today!
I know I can come out tomorrow
But it makes me wonder how long it'll be showing positive on the LFT...

EvilPea · 27/01/2022 11:16

He was testing out of curiosity, this was when you couldn’t get tests so you can imagine how pleased I was with his curiosity Hmm

Roundandballlike · 27/01/2022 11:17

Both my boys have just finished isolating and both still tested positive on day 10. One had very mild cold symptoms the other, no symptoms at all.

Gizlotsmum · 27/01/2022 11:18

I have just tested negative on day 5 and 6. Husband and daughter still positive

CaveMum · 27/01/2022 11:22

DD (4) is still positive currently on Day 7. DH is Day 5 tomorrow so will test to see.

Me and DD are both still negative.

It seems hit and miss, from my anecdata more people (kids and adults) seem to take the full 10 days than not.

Sauvignonblanket · 27/01/2022 11:24

I tested negative on days 5 & 6 - 2xvaccinations plus booster. My husband took longer.

Hellokittyninja · 27/01/2022 11:47

Still strong positive on day 5 for me

ForPingsSake · 27/01/2022 11:47

I tested positive until day 13 (kept testing out of curiosity).

Giraffe888 · 27/01/2022 11:52

My first positive (very strong) test was Monday. Today is a very faint positive so I’m expecting tomorrow might be negative

MadeForThis · 27/01/2022 11:52

Dd negative day 6&7
I'm day 5 and strong positive today

Icantfindanewname · 27/01/2022 11:53

Husband tested negative on Tuesday this week on day 4 (he is impatient, but continued isolating), 5&6. Double jabbed plus booster. Had positive PCR as well as lat flow (work required it) Didn't get it when we did in September, but we've not got it this time. I've been asked to go for jab #4 tomorrow and taking 12 year old for first jab today.

Floco74 · 27/01/2022 11:57

DS tested negative on day 5 and 6, but overnight the day 6 test turned positive?!?

Museumland · 27/01/2022 12:16

The dreaded line is very bold and no different to the first test, some people have mentioned that theirs grew gradually fainter, do people think the line is an indicator ?

Nhsdistress · 27/01/2022 12:19

DH tested neg on day 5, I'm still positive on day 8 so have given up. DS was also still positive on day 8 so we gave up. This is our 2nd time, last time we had it was early on in the pandemic DS needed to go to hospital and was still testing positive (and fully isolating!) at day 33

Horst · 27/01/2022 12:21

Dd has been testing negative since day 4 may of even been earlier as I didn’t test till that point and that was out of curiosity. She had an earache as her symptom to be sent home from school to test.

Somethingsnappy · 27/01/2022 12:25

Yes, I think so. Mine got fainter and fainter towards the end.
