Anyone testing negative after 5 full days? -Covid

Just feeling a little dispondent. Day 8 (counting day of symptoms as zero in accordance with the guidance) and still testing positive. Any adults with symptoms who tested negative after 5 full days?

Didn’t test positive until day 5 (PCR positive on day 2) then tested negative days 8 and 9.

The 5 days is political and not based on science. As shown by this thread most people are still contagious and should not be mixing with others yet. That's why 10 days is the minimum in most other countries. Because they don't have Boris.

I did not test positive at all on LFT. Had a PCR just before the rule change after a positive contact. Tested every day with LFT- each one negative 14 days. Very mild symptoms. I would not have known I had it.

Yes I did, tested negative Saturday and Sunday (day 5 and 6) but still had some symptoms (cold and sore throat). Today my DD has just tested positive after being negative up until now. She hasn’t been in contact with anyone other than me so I can only assume I was still infected despite testing negative. I only hope I haven’t passed it on to anyone else .

I was neg on LFT at the start of day 0 (DC already pos so daily testing) but symptomatic by bedtime, tested positive on PCR the following day (day 1) and now neg on LFT on day 5. But still feel a bit rough. No method to the madness!

I’m still neg on lateral flows and am on day 4 but have lost my taste & smell today. I’m so confused! I’m congested too so hoping it’s just because of that.

Day 5 for me today, still positive, school gave kids compassionate leave last week, both negative (which baffles me, considering they are with me 24/7) will see what they say about tomorrow and the rest of the week if it’s gonna be a full 19 dayer.. was really hoping that i’d be ok and they could go back, but still feel shit with it tbh
