I noticed this straightaway. Bloody rude. That's how 'effective' he is... he just does this

Yes that was pathetic but then again Ian Blackford is a bit of an empty vessel. But at least he's not Covid Margaret
Roussette · 26/01/2022 16:01

Well.... 2 or 3 weeks ago, he called him "a humble crofter"

He can't debate. He has to insult.

SueSaid · 26/01/2022 16:04

'He can't debate. He has to insult.'

He gives as good as he gets. Blackford doesn't do debate much himself tbh, just jeers and mocks.

Piggywaspushed · 26/01/2022 16:08

Plenty of material to jeer and mock.

Flowertailbird · 26/01/2022 16:10

Some posters on here definitely have Stockholm syndrome.

He can't debate. He has to insult.

The reason he calls him that is that is Blackford, an investment banker, described himself as "just a simple crofter with 10 acres" in the 2018 Westminster Budget debate. He was mocked by other MPs, with Anna Soubry remarking that "apparently his small, simple croft is valued at somewhere in the region of half a million pounds"

I'm not sure he's said 'he's eaten all the pies' to Boris lately. IB spoke well today and BJ got a cheap laugh from those behind him.
Unpleasant

Yes, I know that. It's totally unnecessary though. It brings debate down to a personal level.

Bit like on here sometimes! (that's not directed at you lol)

Roussette · 26/01/2022 16:20

Apparently, the Sue Grey report has not been sent to No.10 because it's being run past HR, the Met, and lawyers. This is to ensure it can be published in full.

Possibly no release of it or statement on it till Monday

That’s good news. She’s being uber careful so there are no excuses for redaction. Maybe she should be PM.
CryingAtTheDiscotheque · 26/01/2022 16:25

That lawyer/leader line has backfired fairly spectacularly hasn't it? Grin

I also noticed him insulting Blackford- it reminded me of the story about Johnson bullying a scholarship boy at Oxford www.facebook.com/groups/MaltonMoan/posts/979520522538199/

Johnson and Blackford are two cheeks of the same erse as we say here in Scotland.
longwayoff · 26/01/2022 16:27

Oh no. I was imagining it already delivered to No 10 and sitting like an unexploded bomb on BJs desk. 'The report, PM, you will have to open it. It's been here for hours.' "Shan't. And you can't make me". Stamps foot and pouts.

Roussette · 26/01/2022 16:30

I like that saying derxa, I might borrow that!

ClaudineClare · 26/01/2022 16:32

No Gray today, then?

Roussette · 26/01/2022 16:34

This is so moving.

A man lost his mother, his father and his sister... all to Covid in a three week space in 2020.
It's how he feels about partygate.

Oh come on, that is so unfair, I have money on him going by the of this month!
guinnessguzzler · 26/01/2022 16:38

*end of this month!

the80sweregreat · 26/01/2022 16:40

They just don't like Blackford because he speaks his mind.
The report is being looked at by the lawyers now.

DuncinToffee · 26/01/2022 16:48

Commons adjourned for the night

So nothing further happening today.

DePfeffoff · 26/01/2022 16:48

@Cornettoninja

I find the lack of MP’s starting to put their hat in the ring and lay foundation to take over the leadership of the tories fascinating.

Is it that the country is in such a mess no one is prepared to sacrifice their career on what is an impossible job - much like the deafening silence after Cameron’s exit, or has the UK gravy train finally dried up and there’s no private backers prepared to invest because there’s nothing left in it for them?

Yes. For the next few months it'll be quite a poisoned chalice. My guess is they'll shove Lynn Truss in: she's not bright enough to resist it, and the Tories have a history, when they've totally fucked up, of dumping the job on a woman and then pushing her out when an Etonian wants to take over.
Notonthestairs · 26/01/2022 16:48

Apparently HoC packed up for the day. Statement on Grey report tomorrow? Who knows!

Maybe they can't find lawyers willing to work them after Johnson's PMQs comments....
