Horrified at 7month old in pizza express with screen

I went for lunch today at pizza express, there was a couple giving their ?7month old a bottle with a screen propped up with something Disney to watch. They then plopped baby into high chair and put something else on during whole time at the stable. How can people be so stupid! The baby was looking around elsewhere for something more interesting.

@Mfsf Flowers

So sorry for your loss. Your partner sounds wonderful and supportive Flowers
Wishing you all the best for your family

MrsGinnyM · 22/01/2022 20:05

Horrified...stupid
I honestly thought you must have seen the baby being fed a 14" pepperoni pizza and a large coke, .

Some parents do truly horrifying things. Save your froth and judgement for them.

jesusmaryjosephandtheweedonkey · 22/01/2022 20:06

@Yumperwumpee no nursery and I'm a chef by trade so no beige food.
No Disney.... Prince Charming doesn't rescue girls, they educate themselves to not be reliant on a man for stability and security and have financial freedom.
I wasn't perfect/ far from it but meal times were and are family times . Not screen time .

SlipperTripper · 22/01/2022 20:06

To be fair, baby could have been looking around too - they didn't have to be glued to Disney. Unless there was some clockwork orange shit going down that you haven't mentioned, which would be distasteful over ones doughballs.

St0rmTr00per · 22/01/2022 20:07

If this was someone you saw weekly and a standard thing then YANBU. However you dont know their situation. Maybe theyre just trying to get through their day. I wouldnt judge off one interaction.

trumpisagit · 22/01/2022 20:08

Well it is pretty shit parenting - babies don't need or even want screens.
Judge away.

Blue4YOU · 22/01/2022 20:09

Horrified by world hunger.
Hurried by child abuse.
Horrified by rape and sexual assault m.
Horrified by racism.
Horrified by homophobia.
Horrified by Boris Johnson’s hair (I am!)
By failures in the CPS..
By a baby having the option of looking at a screen…

I think people see a single moment of a family’s life and their imagination runs away with them.

CurlsandCurves · 22/01/2022 20:12
@WindyState I never took them to a restaurant to ignore them so I could enjoy a meal.
You can say whatever you like but using screens and ignoring your children makes people shit, lazy parents.
No other excuses needed.
It's fact!
You know nothing about these people. Maybe that baby is teething like mad at the moment, they’re getting no sleep and thought sod it, let’s just go and get pizza, stick Peppa Pig on the phone so we can catch a break for an hour.

Or maybe as you’re suggesting, they do this all the time for every meal.

Pre smartphones, tablets, etc, we all did what we could to take care of our kids and get through the day. Plonk them in front of the tv, bounce them with your foot in their chair while making tea, leave them in their pram up the garden until the next feed.

None of us know or are in any position to judge.

No, it's not fact, just your shitty opinion.

Piglet89 · 22/01/2022 20:13

AND as well as allowing my son to watch Telly and a screen now and again while out, I also give him a little bit of chocolate after his evening meal every day.

roarfeckingroarr · 22/01/2022 20:18

That's really sad. I've never put my toddler in front of a screen .

And?
roarfeckingroarr · 22/01/2022 20:19

@Piglet89 you give your small child chocolate every day? That's not great.

Some people are just judgmental arseholes.
Thinkbiglittleone · 22/01/2022 20:20

I think it's absolutely fine to observe something and decide it's something you wouldn't do in your life, We wouldn't or didn't do screens with our DS until he was about 2.5, but you can't say it's something those people shouldn't do as you don't know their life.

Yumperwumpee · 22/01/2022 20:20

Great work! Ring the bell! Hand out the medals! Blow the trumpets!

Fallible · 22/01/2022 20:20

It's not something I do, but I really can't get worked up about others using screens in restaurants.

That might be the only screen time they use that day.
They may have no family or friends who can babysit to give them some time alone.
They might be terrified of their baby becoming unsettled and people judging them for it.

There are so many reasons, none of which are my business!

roarfeckingroarr · 22/01/2022 20:21

And small children learn so much from being out and interacting.

VeryMuchSo13 · 22/01/2022 20:21

Please get a fucking life.

PaganQueen · 22/01/2022 20:22

@bluechilli47

You shouldn't judge. You've know idea what's been going on. Might have been the only peace they could get.
@bluechilli47 brilliant 🤣
chickenlickennn · 22/01/2022 20:22

oh do fuck off

Piglet89 · 22/01/2022 20:22

@roarfeckingroarr yeah, that’s what I said! Shoot me!

roarfeckingroarr · 22/01/2022 20:24

@Piglet89 why do you do that? You know it isn't good for them. I'm all for an occasional chocolate but every day with a v small child? Just why?
