Johnson "has seen no evidence of blackmailing"

Blackmailing would presumably be a hushed conversation in a shady corner.
Coming from a man that failed to spot a party taking place in his own back garden (that he attended), AIBU to think that even if true, this latest pronouncement from the Trump pretender means sod all?

OP posts:
flapjackfairy · 20/01/2022 18:28

ha ha v true . It is a total joke isn't it ?

the80sweregreat · 20/01/2022 18:30

I'm Sure that the ones sticking up for the PM on all the other threads about the parties etc will soon pile on to defend the allegations of blackmail by the chief whips and how could the very busy PM possibly be aware of this ?
The MP involved , William Wragg , isn't the sort to make up things , so for him to speak out means there must be something to all this.
Without a paper trail it might be hard to find out out the truth though ( just what I've heard on lbc today )

countrygirl99 · 20/01/2022 18:30

Well Nelson is supposed to have put his telescope to his blind eye before saying he didn't see a signal. Perhaps Johnson is stopping the same tactic.

Crimesean · 20/01/2022 18:31

Stupidest thing ever. Like Andrew saying he has "no recollection" of meeting Virginia Guiffre, in case incontrovertible proof arises.

I have seen so evidence that Uzbekistan exists, but that doesn't mean I doubt that it's there!

Meandthesky · 20/01/2022 18:34

Well he didn’t see that he was at a party either so maybe he needs to drive to a castle to test his eyesight

Cornettoninja · 20/01/2022 18:37

Literally my first thought when I read it. At various points he’s been unaware of how many children he has too. He’s self-proclaimed unobservant…

llanfair11 · 20/01/2022 18:38

I have seen no evidence that Mr Johnson is fit to hold public office.

DuncinToffee · 20/01/2022 18:39

Remember when he hadn't seen any evidence of parties either?
Only a few steps away from 'Nobody told me'

I'm almost tempted to invite them over for the entertainment they continue to provide.
the80sweregreat · 20/01/2022 18:41

I'm sure it'll go the same way as partygate and in a few days time we will find out that our PM doesn't know precisely what the word ' blackmail ' actually means, never heard of it

noblegiraffe · 20/01/2022 18:57

What? Oh is that blackmail? I thought it was a work event.

Eastie77Returns · 20/01/2022 19:00

“No-one told me blackmailing was not allowed”

Broblem · 20/01/2022 19:02

Honestly, he’d have been better off avoiding the question. He’s lost so much credibility (yes, apparently he once had some) that any sort of qualification on a denial will mean he is disbelieved.

He really has to go.

Skiptheheartsandflowers · 20/01/2022 19:02

The number of things he doesn't see is remarkable. I'm surprised Specsavers aren't tweeting him with special offers.

SickAndTiredAgain · 20/01/2022 19:04

But has he checked with Sue Gray?

the80sweregreat · 20/01/2022 19:08

He definitely needs new glasses !

jgw1 · 20/01/2022 19:15

Why is anyone paying any attention to the latest fairytale from Dominic Cummings?

SpiderinaWingMirror · 20/01/2022 19:31

Cos the death by a 1000 papercuts inflicted by Cummings is highly entertaining

Shambolicatthleast · 20/01/2022 19:45

Pork barrel tory politics as usual. Whether it be affluent tory voting constituencies getting more dosh from the Towns fund than genuinely deprived Labour ones, West Midlands tory MP Gary Sandbrook boasting that he had greater access to central government money than any other candidate or surrey county council getting a huge rise in funding after threatening to hold a referendum for a council tax rise, they are steeped in corruption. And yet you'll have poster after poster defending them like they are a bl*y football team.

But Jeremy Corbyn would have been worse.

Why is anyone paying any attention to the latest fairytale from Dominic Cummings?
Is every criticism of Johnson by a fellow Tory MP (and in this case also one ex-Tory, now labour MP) automatically the work of Cummings then?

Given Boris’s history regarding the journalist he talked about having beaten up, I don’t think he’s above letting a spot of blackmail slide.

FreshHeaven · 20/01/2022 19:52

He thinks he's so clever.
Sad.

Shambolicatthleast · 20/01/2022 19:55

@jgw1 surely ironic ?
