Fish - would you have eaten it?

So just had a row with h - I made imho a lovely dinner of whole trout and salad with pickles, cheese and coleslaw. He refused to eat it. Why? He bought it New Year’s Eve. I froze it on the same day - I checked and it said can be frozen.
So yes I’m right and it was fine
No wtf were you thinking and it is dangerous to eat.

It would be fine. I'd eat it.

RandomUsernameHere · 19/01/2022 19:11

Yes you're right, absolutely fine to eat in my opinion!

dementedpixie · 19/01/2022 19:11

If its frozen is fine for ages. He's being an idiot

mynameiscalypso · 19/01/2022 19:12

Why would it be dangerous? Does he not understand how freezers work?

dizzydizzydizzy · 19/01/2022 19:13

Of course it's fine

Fatgalslim · 19/01/2022 19:14

Tell him mate his own fucking food from now on, ungrateful git

Fatgalslim · 19/01/2022 19:14

whole trout and salad with pickles, cheese and coleslaw. I don't like the sound of this combo but it sounds safe to eat

Does he not understand how freezers work?

This ^

galacticpixels · 19/01/2022 19:17

What does he think the point of freezers is?!

Flocon · 19/01/2022 19:18

What cheese was it? The idea of cheese and trout is a bit ew

TheViewFromTheCheapSeats · 19/01/2022 19:19

Did he have an explanation for his thinking?

SantaHat · 19/01/2022 19:20

Has he never eaten anything from a freezer before?

SandyPanda · 19/01/2022 19:31

Has he ever had a fish finger?

Theyellowflamingo · 19/01/2022 19:35

I’m not sure about a trout and cheese/pickles combo, but of course you can eat fish that’s been frozen - the freezer aisles of supermarkets are full of fish!

Tricked2003 · 19/01/2022 19:35

What was his reasoning? Does he eat other food that has been bought fresh and frozen?

MrsPear · 19/01/2022 19:38

I agree with the cheese thing - but it’s traditional to have cheese and these pickled vegetables with every dinner / lunch - I get them in the Turkish shop and just put a bit on a side plate.

I just had the trout and salad.

And no he doesn’t seem to understand freezers.

I’m a bit funny about food left too long in the freezer (just that freezer burn thing, makes me feel a bit ill)- but a 3 week frozen fish? Frozen on day of purchase? I’d be fine with it.

I would not be serving it with cheese.

MrsPear · 19/01/2022 19:40

He thinks they work like fridges. I actually take stuff out of packets and freeze. He thinks the date is still valid despite it being frozen so I hide dates.
I do all cooking and usually shopping so I get away with freezing meat normally. But he bought the fish - so I got caught out and all hell broke loose.

OP posts:
MrsPear · 19/01/2022 19:41

I do. Understand about the cheese. But it’s like my grand parents and bread and butter!

Flocon · 19/01/2022 19:42

He thinks the date is still valid despite it being frozen so I hide dates what does he think is the point of freezing food then?!

Anonymous48 · 19/01/2022 19:42

Your husband is not a very intelligent man, is he?

CharlotteRose90 · 19/01/2022 19:42

I don’t like that combo so I wouldn’t eat it but I think it’s fine to eat

dementedpixie · 19/01/2022 19:45

Your husband isn't very bright then
The use by/best before is extended by freezing it and only applies to it when it's fresh
