To think I'm not lazy to get a cleaner ?

Single parent to pre schooler. I have 70 to 80 PC custody. Work 4 days a week with a 40 minute commute each way this is an hour if he needs dropping at nursery. Also have a big dog and a new partner. Trying to go gym twice a week aswell! Apparently I'm a lazy cow for getting a fortnightly cleaner? Seriously?!??!

Says who?

Ignore them or bin them, depending.

EnjoyingTheSilence · 15/01/2022 10:20

Says who?

toomuchlaundry · 15/01/2022 10:20

Is that the ex saying that?

Snowisfalling33 · 15/01/2022 10:23

Who's saying this? Ex p by any chance?
As long as you can afford it and aren't asking somebody else to pay it for you then it's nobody's business but yours!

I have a fortnightly cleaner because I hate cleaning and knew somebody who was looking for cleaning. I don't particularly tell people because it's none of their business.

Majoritycustody · 15/01/2022 10:23

Parents who had 2 kids but were together and actually forget they had a fuxking cleaner

My new years resolution was to lose weight which isn't going well 🤔 but also to do more things I enjoy and be more selfish.

Nothing to do with anyone else. And they sound like raging hypocrites.

yellowjellytot · 15/01/2022 10:25

No doubt whoever is saying this isn't and never has been in your situation. And it's also none of their business.

NerrSnerr · 15/01/2022 10:25

Do you mean your own parents or just people you know? I'd just stop telling whoever it is your business and just get on with it.

Laserbird16 · 15/01/2022 10:27

There are only so many hours in a day, and I'm assuming some of them you'd rather do stuff like interact with your child than scrub the toilet. Does this person with who made this pronouncement ever look at their phone or watch tv? Or do they ever order online instead of go to a supermarket? How self indulgent!

Wingedharpy · 15/01/2022 10:28

One person's "lazy cow" is another person's "savvy woman".

FFSFFSFFS · 15/01/2022 10:28

I’m single work from home about 20 hours a week. I have a cleaner.

FFSFFSFFS · 15/01/2022 10:29

Who comes once a week.

PenCreed · 15/01/2022 10:31

Two adults and no kids in our house. We have a cleaner once a week so we can spend our free time on things we enjoy instead. Ignore them!

Dumblebum · 15/01/2022 10:33

Two adults here too and I’ve a cleaner, your parents are telling you you’re lazy?

Pegasussnail · 15/01/2022 10:33

Why does anyone know you have a cleaner ?
They need to mind their own.

Majoritycustody · 15/01/2022 10:38

It was just a conversation that came up. My mate recommended her to me.

OP posts:
dafey · 15/01/2022 10:38

How can you possibly be lazy

MsJaneAusten · 15/01/2022 10:39

If you can afford it, do it.

Isababybel · 15/01/2022 10:40

Yanbu at all, if you can afford it then do it!
Is it your parents that said it, i immediately thought 'mum' as mine would say the exact same thing to me (i don't have a cleaner but currently considering it)?

BootySOS · 15/01/2022 10:41

Of course it's not lazy. It's self care. You can't do everything and keep on top of it all, all the time. There are no rules on this the choice is yours.

Picklesandbeans · 15/01/2022 10:41

Honestly get a cleaner! We had one- best thing ever! Cant afford one now but it does make a big difference to life. Tell everyone who criticizes to live a week in your shoes then come back to you!

Majoritycustody · 15/01/2022 10:42

Apparently if I sit down I'm lazy according to my parents so I'll never win lol

OP posts:
arethereanyleftatall · 15/01/2022 10:44

Just ignore them. This opinion of theirs is silly.
It isn't just about laziness. To me, the pleasure I got out of spending £20 pw on a cleaner, was far higher than the pleasure I got from spending £20 on a round of drinks at the pub.

slightlysnippy · 15/01/2022 10:45

If you can afford it why not, it's just using your time wisely. Freeing up your time to do things that benefit your life going to the gym, spending time with your daughter etc.
