To think I'm not lazy to get a cleaner ?

Single parent to pre schooler. I have 70 to 80 PC custody. Work 4 days a week with a 40 minute commute each way this is an hour if he needs dropping at nursery. Also have a big dog and a new partner. Trying to go gym twice a week aswell! Apparently I'm a lazy cow for getting a fortnightly cleaner? Seriously?!??!

its up to you if you have a cleaner and can afford her , im not sure its one of those things one can judge someone else on really .and if they do its just silly as it doesnt affect them at all

id bloody well have one if i could afford it and i wouldnt be giving a shit what anyone else thought about it

@Majoritycustody

My new years resolution was to lose weight which isn't going well 🤔 but also to do more things I enjoy and be more selfish.
Maybe you should add a resolution to give your parents less headspace. They don't sound as if they're particularly positive towards you.
MrsWooster · 15/01/2022 10:48

Tell them you’ve thought about it and you’ve realised that you’re both right: 1: you’re too busy to clean properly and 2: it would be lazy and morally wrong for someone not too busy to clean thoroughly, so you expect them both round at yours at 9am Monday, marigold-clad and ready to clean through. You’ll supply the hoover, please bring flask of teas you don’t want them making a mess in the newly sparkling kitchen.
Sorted.

ecceromani · 15/01/2022 10:48

It would amaze you the number of people who have cleaners but don't tell anyone! Because of attitudes like this still prevailing.
If having a cleaner is what you want/ need then just do it quietly, it's no-one's business but yours

Majoritycustody · 15/01/2022 10:52

My mum offered to clean but I couldn't think of anything worse

Chasingsquirrels · 15/01/2022 10:56

I'm lazy.

But I've had cleaners because I like a clean house but don't enjoy cleaning it and have been in the position that I'd rather pay someone else to do that.

Love your own life and deflect criticism from others.

Chasingsquirrels · 15/01/2022 10:57

LIVE love, although maybe loving your own life is equally as applicable.

lol send her to me , i will be glad to have her services , i do hope she wont find hoovering up after the 5 houserabbits too much though, they do make a lot of mess with their hay and pellets all over the front room !!
saraclara · 15/01/2022 11:03

I live alone, am retired, fit and healthy, and have a cleaner!

Somehow I forgot to cancel her when I finished working! And who would change my king sized duvet if not her?!

But more to the point, she does a vastly better job of cleaning than I do. It's my little luxury.

MrsLargeEmbodied · 15/01/2022 11:07

it is your money, your choice, your life

Hoppinggreen · 15/01/2022 11:08

I have a cleaner because I AM lazy
Nobody else’s business

Belledan1 · 15/01/2022 11:10

Ignore. I have to massive front and back lawns which I mow myself. Husband worls longs hours and bad back but does mow it too. I pay someone 30.00 a month in the summer to weed them both. I wfh now but very busy. I got told by someone I was lazy that I paid a gardener to weed. This person has tarmaced drive and a small but of grass at back which her dad mows for her

LondonQueen · 15/01/2022 11:10

I guess I'm lazy as well then! No, I just value my time and would rather spend it with my children than cleaning.

CMOTDibbler · 15/01/2022 11:11

I hate cleaning, as does DH and we can afford a cleaner so we give work to someone who does like cleaning which helps her as well

Introvertedbuthappy · 15/01/2022 11:12

Just ignore them. I have a cleaner who comes every week day and also does my ironing. I give zero shits what people think.

saraclara · 15/01/2022 11:17

Also isn't it good to help the economy and give work to people?

I hate cleaning, my cleaner loves it! She gets a genuine pleasure and a feeling of satisfaction and achievement from it. So she gets paid to do something she loves, and as a single parent, she has an income and a flexible job. And I get a pristine house, and a bed made up like it's a posh hotel room!

Beautiful3 · 15/01/2022 11:24

If you're wanting to lose weight then cleaning will help.

Lottieskeeper · 15/01/2022 11:26

I'm a stay at home mum and seriously considering getting a cleaner when my DS's free hours kick in at preschool after Easter. I hate cleaning but cannot afford a cleaner until I no longer have to pay for other people to look after my kid; I think I'm probably Very lazy and I'm not ashamed to admit it.

But do you have to tidy before the cleaner comes? Or can they do an hour tidying and then an hour cleaning?

Hadalifeonce · 15/01/2022 11:32

When I went back to work after having children, I told DP I would expect him to pull his weight around the house, he paid for a cleaner as he doesn't like cleaning. It was brilliant.

It's good for the economy and society for you to spend your money employing other people so they can F off.
Lazy. Whatever.

2bazookas · 15/01/2022 11:42

Maybe your problem is a lazy new partner.

Eh?
Youdoyoutoday · 15/01/2022 11:48

Nothing wrong with having a cleaner, just dint mention it to your parents and maybe see them a bit less if they're so annoying.
