My NDN drilling the adjoining wall to my bedroom (headboard side) at 8am this morning.

Wankers.

Yep! Do you normally get on well with them?

IsolaPribby · 08/01/2022 14:39

At least it wasn't 6am?

TheHoptimist · 08/01/2022 14:40

8am is fine surely?

WorraLiberty · 08/01/2022 14:41

I would probably have preferred 9am but I'm not sure why?

I would wait til post 9am at least, 10 if I could.

It’s a bit annoying but nothing to put dog shite through their letterbox about

ABitOfAShitShow · 08/01/2022 14:45

@Ionlydomassiveones

I think there is a correlation with compulsive DIYers and lawn mower people that they are are also annoying early morning people too. I feel your pain.
😂 This is so true!
VainAbigail · 08/01/2022 14:45

So they know which wall your headboard is on?

MrsDeaconClaybourne · 08/01/2022 15:13

My NDN drills into our shared wall so much I imagine it must be just full of holes like some weird installation. Never at 8am although he does often go on late into the evening! I did an AIBU though and most people thought I was so I think there must be quite a large band of MN diy-ers Grin

I think anything anti social it's polite to give your neighbours a bit of warning. 8 am is quite early for a weekend imo

KiloWhat · 08/01/2022 15:15

Seems fair enough tbh. Maybe they are fed up of hearing you snoring.

PressedintoAction · 08/01/2022 15:16

Oh god, ours did this into the adjoining wall at 11.30pm one night. After a looong weekend of noisy DIY. Woke up every single one of us. Fuckers.

Donatella · 08/01/2022 16:12

In our old house, our neighbours were sanding the (adjoining) living room wall for at least 6 months. By hand, not with an electrical sander. Not a loud noise to be fair, but oh so annoying. Every night. Shhshhshhshhhshh. Shhshhshhshhhshh. Shhhshhhshhhshhhshhh.

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 08/01/2022 16:15

I think it’s shitty to have building works on a weekend morning at all, but I’m in a tiny minority on MN.

RB68 · 08/01/2022 16:28

they have of course complied with any party wall requirements before commencing work ...

Barton10 · 08/01/2022 16:31

This would seriously piss me off. Weekend lie ins are the best part of the week! DIY should not be done before 10 on a weekend. I used to work with someone who hoovered at 5 am every morning and didn’t understand why her neighbours were annoyed!

KO81 · 08/01/2022 16:39

@TheHoptimist

8am is fine surely?
Here we go…

“By 8am our family has got up, done an hour of yoga and sun salutations together, taken the dog for a seven-mile run on the fells and changed all the beds.”

OnTheBoardwalk · 08/01/2022 16:41

I’ve had hoovering upstairs at 6 am the last 2 mornings. This morning they at least waited until 9. Some people are just noise wankers

Flabbyflabberson · 08/01/2022 16:44

Anyone who thinks it's okay to drill before at least 11 on a weekend is a prick. Let people have some peace.

PurpleThursdays · 08/01/2022 16:44

Grin @KO81

cushioncovers · 08/01/2022 16:46

8am is a shitty time of the morning to do that.

PurpleThursdays · 08/01/2022 16:49

I agree people shouldn't do noisy DIY tasks (unless they are completely unavoidable) before 10am on a weekend.

On a separate note, I moaned at my neighbour this week for revving his car engine like a noisy twat at 5.30am everymorning to "defrost his car". I've put up with it since about November. His car is right outside my house and he sits in his car for 20-30 mins each morning "warming the car up" whilst he sits in it smoking and pressing hair accelerator. I've had a break from it over xmas but since he's gone back to work this week I've decided I can tolerate it no more. He got told!

SpinsForGin · 08/01/2022 16:50

@TheHoptimist

8am is fine surely?
No it isn't. Especially on a weekend.
Latticeallure88 · 08/01/2022 16:52

I think 8 am is fine on a Saturday but not on a Sunday!

Where I live, there are rules about this sort of things, which makes it all a lot clearer.

SpinsForGin · 08/01/2022 16:57

So do we and it states no noisy DIY before 9am even on a week day.

TooOldToBeAGoth · 08/01/2022 19:59

It’s fine unfortunately
