Surely this is wrong?

OP posts:
RoseRedRoseBlue · 04/01/2022 23:38

Horrible, tacky and twee. I hate the conflation of familial love and romantic love.

Mumoftwoinprimary · 04/01/2022 23:38

Yep - that’s a bit yucky.

Legoisthebest · 04/01/2022 23:43

Nothing wrong with that. St Valentine's Day is about love. I give a Valentine's gift to my husband because I love him and to my daughter cause I love her. The 'gift' by the way is usually something like heart shaped chocolates from Poundland.

Thehop · 04/01/2022 23:44

The valentines cards I got from
My dad are some of the most precious memories I have.

justamumseekingadvice · 04/01/2022 23:45

My dad used to leave me a valentines card and small gift every year and I agree with another poster - they are things that I treasure now. I also buy for my daughter and she sends her dad a card too.

DoTheyKnowItsLemonJuice · 04/01/2022 23:50

It is super tacky, ugly and awful.

But I wouldn’t say “wrong” in the sense of inappropriate — I mean, I doubt it was made with sinister intent. You’d have to be reading the worst possible motives into it to view it that way.

Emerald5hamrock · 04/01/2022 23:58

It isn't inappropriate assuming you're thinking about romantic love.
More a fad waste of money for SM likes and consumerism.

Jonagirl · 05/01/2022 00:02

I think this gets done every year. Some people see valentines as a romantic thing between adults and some people see it as just a general fun lighthearted type of thing for the people they love whether that be a partner or child. Neither are icky, it is what it is. People who buy those are just doing it out of love/fun, there's nobody doing it with gross or inappropriate thoughts, it's harmless fun. Don't read anymore into than needs be

OhWhyNot · 05/01/2022 00:03

I love my little valentines gifts from ds I've kept them all and the cards

I found my cards I made for my grandad he had kept I have them now

The day is about love

BookFiend4Life · 05/01/2022 00:04

I hate these. My patents and in laws buy shit like this all the time. I HATE them!!! Maybe it's a generational thing??

Kanaloa · 05/01/2022 00:07

I don’t think it’s ‘wrong.’ I worked in childcare for years and every year we make Valentine’s gifts/cards for kids to give to their parents. We’re all aware it’s not intended to be romantic, just celebrating a social holiday and talking about it etc.

So not my style but I wouldn’t say it’s ‘wrong.’

AuntyBumBum · 05/01/2022 00:09

To be honest it's only "wrong" if you've got a slightly warped mind. And if you're looking for paedophiles they don't tend to advertise the fact by emblazoning on their daughters' clothing.

SpindleyCrow · 05/01/2022 00:13

More tat while the planet burns. Excellent.

Kanaloa · 05/01/2022 00:17

They’re babygrows. They might not be to your taste but it’s hardly a cause for ‘more tat’ because most people buy these. Most people have babysuits/babygrows/vests for their child.

These are much like the ‘born in x year’ ones and presumably are intended to be kept as keepsakes of the child’s first year.

Wheredidthequietgo · 05/01/2022 00:19

I hate valentine's. So much tat

Hesma · 05/01/2022 07:09

I think it’s a bit chavvy but nothing sinister about it if that’s what you’re thinking

DuvetHugger · 05/01/2022 13:21

Urgh, people are so miserable

TheSpiral · 05/01/2022 13:31

If it is just about familial love, a/ would you put a boy baby in that? And b/ why is is daddy not mummy?

Interesting questions.

I agree Valentines Day is about romantic love not familial love.

My most treasured valentine was off my eldest when I was going through a really tough time - a simple card made at primary school, it meant so much to me.

I can’t believe how much time people must spend searching for stuff to be offended by.

SarahJessicaParker1 · 05/01/2022 14:06

Can't get worked up about it tbh.

Still have memories of my late mum sending me a homemade card for my first valentines away at university 💖💖💖💖

Well I wouldn’t personally put any baby in it, but I’ve seen things like this in “boy” and “girl” variants. People do seem to buy both.

I’m not sure I understand your second question? It just seems like the flip side of the first question.

Are you trying to make a case for these baby clothes actually being sinister grooming tools, hiding in plain sight as it were? Seems unlikely.

SleepingStandingUp · 05/01/2022 14:10

Only inappropriate if yo u think its actual promoting or encouraging sexual love. Otherwise its just not to your tasre

vodkaredbullgirl · 05/01/2022 14:10

Yes it's wrong

should be 2022 Grin

SpinsForGin · 05/01/2022 14:12
