Do you think guilty or innocent

OP posts:
Roussette · 02/01/2022 11:33

That's because there are some awful people who believe the Royal Family are somehow our betters and should be treated with nothing but deference and a bowed knee

Yep. Some people would rather blame young vulnerable girls than to think PA could've done any wrong.

SerendipityJane · 02/01/2022 11:35
@noworklifebalance yes probably true. But without public support for the Royal Family it will not survive the Queen's death.
History shows us the Royal Family don't need our approval to exist. As long as they are useful idiots for the ambitions of the Johnsons of this world, they won't be got rid off.

gilorga · 02/01/2022 11:35

why do you think it is the Queen keeping him out of court?

she's funding the lawyers which cost millions isn't she?

How odd to not know how these things work!

Roussette · 02/01/2022 11:35

Make no mistake, if VG had not had the courage to keep pursuing Epstein and PA, the way would not have been paved for more victims to come forward and ultimately for a successful prosecution against GM

^^ This with knobs on.
Yet there are women on here saying she's just in it for the money and hang on, she was smiling when she was snapped with PA. Hmm

But some 17yo do sleep with 40yo for fun. Number of posters on MN admit to this whenever there is a thread about a young girl with older man.

Not saying that is what happened here but it does happen.

That's what Monarchy does to a country.

Some people are quite happy to allow their children to grow up as subjects, not citizens. Fuck that.

ddl1 · 02/01/2022 11:37

PS although the age of consent in New York is NOW 18, the law on this was only changed a few months ago. Until July 2021, it was 17. Indeed, I believe that at the time of the alleged offenses, it was 14.

Prince Andrew doubtless used his wealth and status to seduce or even press this much younger girl. He is not a savoury character, and in most professions, his behaviour would be regarded as gross misconduct. But (unless there are things that we don't know about), he's not a paedophile.

gilorga · 02/01/2022 11:37

She is asking for a payout for the distress she was caused.

She has clearly targeted one of the many men as she knows he has the means to pay up.

Whether he is guilty or not, she doesn't cover herself in glory by her behaviour now, IMO

Why is it bad to target someone who has caused her distress?

vera99 · 02/01/2022 11:38

Rotten apples rarely fall far from the tree and let's not forget the heir to the throne was committing adultery at the beginning of his marriage. Make me sick the lot of them.

Yes, exactly It is because Virginia and others came forward and kept pushing in spite of overwhelming pressure and media attempts to ruin their reputations, that they were found guilty. I remember on MN some people claiming that 16 and 17 year old girls would have been thrilled to have sex with a rich man like Epstein, so of course he was innocent. They were proved wrong.
Iputthetrampintrampoline · 02/01/2022 11:38

I think anyone who stayed friends with a convicted sex offender is morally bankrupt, Then to fly over and stay with said offender to break off the friendship?Fuck me do they think we are stupid? He flew there to make sure his arse was covered!! I would love to see the deal VG accepted in the first instance, I think she is a remarkable woman by the way, As for PA he is challenging this and making himself look more guilty at every turn, I think justice will not be done but he should be made to go into exile and loose his titles purely for bringing himself and the monarchy into disrepute, He is shady as shite spoilt and rotten to the core in my view, Charles and William are right slim down the monarchy and let Andrew go first,No one could possibly have any use for him now.

How odd to not know how these things work!

How odd not to know that whatever she does will cost money. If he goes to court his lawyers will still have to be paid. If VG wins, he will have to stump up even more money.
RoyalFamilyFan · 02/01/2022 11:40

Why do so many people think they know the law better than a US court? The court have legally ruled there is a case to answer.
So many armchair lawyers on this thread who think they know the law better than the court.

www.google.com.au/amp/s/amp.theguardian.com/society/2008/nov/19/prostitution-law-trafficked-women-smith

According to this, claiming "not to know" someone is trafficked because you are too stupid/arrogant/horny/whatever to consider it is no defence. It is still a crime!

merrymouse · 02/01/2022 11:41

A paedophile, innocent - the girl in question was over the age of consent in the UK.

I think the point is that she was trafficked and therefore couldn’t give consent.

Whether or not it can be proved that he knew she was trafficked, he definitely had shady financial dealings with Epstein and actively used his royal status to confer respectability on Maxwell and Epstein, which enabled abuse.

At some point you have to ask whether ‘he was just too stupid to know’ is an acceptable defence for somebody who was once 2nd in line to be head of state.

JinglingHellsBells · 02/01/2022 11:41

@gilorga It's not wrong but she has chosen someone who is high profile and also who has the means to pay. She should if it's a matter of ethics, pursue them all.

AutumnDays21 · 02/01/2022 11:42

Of all the issues in this, I can't get my head round the fact that Andrew told Emily Matliss that he was patron of the NSPCC so 'knew what to look for'.

I know a couple of people who have direct experience of him and who say he is arrogant and entitled. He thinks he should get the best freebies wherever he is and that's his yardstick for whether you're a good guy or not.

I'm sure he never thought about the morality of what he was doing. He wanted to do it and therefore he did.

merrymouse · 02/01/2022 11:42

Because if that is the genuine defence, the entire Royal family should give up their positions immediately.

RoyalFamilyFan · 02/01/2022 11:42

@JinglingHellsBells stop telling a woman who is a victim she should not pursue him in court because he is rich and famous.

TatianaBis · 02/01/2022 11:43

Epstein’s dead love. And who are you to say who VG should pursue. It may be that PA is the one she has the most evidence for.

Not saying that is what happened here but it does happen.

If that 17 year old girl had been flown from one country to another, without their parents, by two now convicted sex traffickers... would you still say that? Because that's literally what happened.
Miserablebitch · 02/01/2022 11:44

I feel sorry for Beatrice and Eugenie, having that pair as parents. Don’t think it matters if Andrew is guilty or not (though he is guilty as sin) as his position in the Royal Family will protect him from paying for his crimes! Mummy dear will never allow her favourite child to be punished, so I agree with others that he will be praying that she doesn’t die until this is all over.

I think the News Night interview showed just how arrogant he is, thinking that people would actually believe the idiotic lies which came out of his mouth… ‘Couldn’t have been me, because I couldn’t sweat’, which is of course down to being a hero in the Falkland War!

ErinTingey · 02/01/2022 11:44

There was a huge social gulf between VG and PA. What on earth did he think she was doing hanging out with the Maxwells? Did he think they had a normal, reciprocal friendship? Really?

Where there is money /fame /power, you will always find young women around willing to have sex for the lifestyle, to get close to the famous person etc. I worked in the music industry a while back and groupies were everywhere trying to get with the artist.

I do not doubt that both Maxwell and Epstein trafficked girls but whether Andrew knew they didn't want to be there just because he was who he was, is not out of the realms of impossible knowing his ego.

RoyalFamilyFan · 02/01/2022 11:44

Prince Andrew sought to have the case dismissed saying it was baseless. The court ruled there was a case to answer.
