Early Fireworks

You’ve bought fireworks to let the New Year in, fair enough.

Why are you setting them off at 10:30pm and not 12:00 midnight?

AIBU?

shouldistop · 31/12/2021 22:33

I'd prefer people set them off earlier than woke me up at midnight tbh

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 31/12/2021 22:33

Here they started just after 5. Our poor, poor cat.

nocoolnamesleft · 31/12/2021 22:34

Far sooner they set them off now. Some of us have to get up for work in the morning.

Tomnooktoldmeto · 31/12/2021 22:34

They’ve been going off regularly since 5.30 here, one cat couldn’t care less but the other one is in hiding with me bless her

pussycatunpickingcrossesagain · 31/12/2021 22:35

10.30?! They've been going off since bloody 8 here!

Fucking wankers who can't tell the bloody time.🤬

Anyone fancy talking a cat down of the curtains???

WhatTheWhoTheWhatThe · 31/12/2021 22:35

Started here a 6pm and have been ongoing the whole evening

WhatTheWhoTheWhatThe · 31/12/2021 22:36

Not started by me I should add!

PinkWaferBiscuit · 31/12/2021 22:37

We've had them going off since about 5pm. Am sure they will continue until long after midnight. They have already woken the toddler twice.Angry

Thorilicious · 31/12/2021 22:37

6pm here, started while I took poor ddog out for a walk, and ended up carrying him half the way as he was so scared.
I don't mind fireworks, just wasn't expecting them that early....

DigitalGhost · 31/12/2021 22:38

Been going off since it got slightly dark here. Although the go off every night anyway.
19 month old DD is not happy with tonight's though

LynxGiftsetAndSocks · 31/12/2021 22:38

The neighbours did theirs at 8pm

'For the kids'

WorraLiberty · 31/12/2021 22:39

I'm assuming because people want their kids to enjoy them too, and they might be too tired to stay up until midnight.

They've been going off here since about 8pm I think.

MerryChristmas21 · 31/12/2021 22:40

Lots of people set them off early, pretend it's midnight, then get the kids into bed.

They've been going off since 5 here, some extremely loud ones too! I love fireworks, so no bother for me, but I do feel sorry for animals & very young kids who have been woken up.

MadisonAvenue · 31/12/2021 22:44

There were some here at 4.30 yesterday afternoon. Today they’ve been going off since around 6pm. Our poor dog is terrified.
I’m dreading Midnight.

Iheartmysmart · 31/12/2021 22:46

They’ve been going off here for hours. I’ll have to sedate the dog again before midnight which I don’t really like doing. Poor sod is too scared to go out for a wee.

LynxGiftsetAndSocks · 31/12/2021 22:46

Our dog bloody loves the fireworks

Took him out to watch and he sat watching. Weirdo.

He always been like that

RandomMess · 31/12/2021 22:48

The dog has booked her spot in bed with me for the night 🙄 no way will she happily settle in her crate tonight.

Thedogscollar · 31/12/2021 22:49

Hate fireworks at anytime so YANBU.

GlitterSquid · 31/12/2021 22:53

Honestly they've been going off for HOURS here, almost constantly and I'm semi rural.

I'm here on my own, hate NYE, desperately want to avoid midnight and know it'll be like a war zone in an hour. There's no avoiding it 😞😢

pinkstripeycat · 31/12/2021 23:21

Ours have been going since 10pm and still going. Not just here and there but constant. Waste of money. Horses in the field behind us must be terrified

delilahbucket · 31/12/2021 23:24

Started at 6pm here. Been listening to the little kids and their parents thundering up and down the stairs next door for the last three hours along with them slamming doors every two minutes (often the same door several times over and over) which is far more annoying. As is their dog barking constantly, and it isn't fireworks setting it off.

RedCandyApple · 31/12/2021 23:29

They have been going on far earlier here so you’ve been lucky, maybe around 7/8, I assumed it was for people whose children won’t be up at midnight? But who knows

BlusteringBoobies · 31/12/2021 23:36

They've been going off here since 6.

We've been in and out of 2 yo DS's room 6 times so far as they're so loud and he gets scared.

I think we're in for a few more wake ups yet!

I don't begrudge people celebrating with fireworks but so bloody hard when they're so loud outside his window

sadpapercourtesan · 31/12/2021 23:38

I guess some families are doing them earlier to give younger kids a bit of NYE excitement before putting them to bed?

I can't get exercised about people setting off fireworks on NYE. It's not exactly a surprise.

dustandfluf · 31/12/2021 23:39

Started around half 4 here. Scared the shit out of me as I was putting my canapés in the oven!
