Regarding covid, politics, anything really.
Just for fun, it’s always quite interesting to look back at these sort of threads a year later.

StealthPolarBear · 30/12/2021 17:38

OK in seriousnwss
I think we'll be in a similar position, covid-wise, in December to now.

ToykotoLosAngeles · 30/12/2021 17:38

No more Boris as PM. I give him til March.

gorseinon · 30/12/2021 17:38

The England men's football team will not win the World Cup.

Hunderland · 30/12/2021 17:38

Ghislaine Maxwell will be sent to jail for a very, very long time.

londonrach · 30/12/2021 17:39

I think covid will disappear as it's getting weaker. Alot of shops will disappear sadly. Huge change s I suspect as people are either buying online or not interested in buying things.... I think we in for a few rocky years with lots of other changes ....

jesuistot · 30/12/2021 17:41

I forgot it will be the World Cup football

OP posts:
Landof · 30/12/2021 17:41

@Hunderland

Ghislaine Maxwell will be sent to jail for a very, very long time.
Don't we already know that?!
LadyWithLapdog · 30/12/2021 17:41

Johnson out.
Brexit shitfest worsening.
New leader for Labour (please God).
I win the Euromillions and the National Lottery.

RememberThePenguins · 30/12/2021 17:45

Covid will continue to be problematic until the spring, when it will die down again and resurge next winter causing more problems for the NHS.

The government will continue to do chuff all to solve some of the fundamental issues with the NHS.

Brexit will continue to bite. There will be more issues with imports and exports when further rule changes come in and there will be various shortages and price increases.

The government will continue to do chuff all about solving any of these issues.

Energy prices will harm many householders who find themselves having to choose between heating and eating.

The government will do chuff all about that as well.

There will be more extreme weather events. Somewhere will get flooded. Climate scientists will bang their heads against their desks as the government continues to do chuff all.

The Tories will get hammered in the local elections and Boris will get booted out. Liz Truss will take over and talk about cheese a lot.

Basically Britain will continue to experience a gradual decline and living standards will continue to fall. Poverty will rise and the rich will get richer. Fun stuff.

FionnulaTheCooler · 30/12/2021 17:46

The Queen will die.

plinkplinkfizzer · 30/12/2021 17:47

Mr Johnson will become a Father again (paternity leave ) .Wink

Cheersto2022 · 30/12/2021 17:49

After 2020 and 2021 NOTHING is beyond the realms of possible Grin

PlanetNormal · 30/12/2021 17:56

There will be a major & very serious energy crisis, during which the short-sightedness of the U.K. & EU’s dependence on foreign gas will be brutally exposed.

England will win the World Cup in Qatar.

Covid will be basically over by Easter, due to vaccine protection, population immunity, increased evidence that Omicron is significantly less virulent than previous variants, and the arrival of anti-virals, eg Paxlovid.

Boris Johnson will no longer be PM by the end of the year. He may decide to jump before he’s pushed in the summer. Rishi Sunak will be the first non-white PM.

A new political party will emerge on the populist right. Its policies will include lower taxes, smaller government, benefit cuts, energy self-sufficiency at the expense of green policies, pro free-speech legislation, protection for women’s spaces and tough action on illegal immigration which will entail reform of the Human Rights Act.

Hunderland · 30/12/2021 17:57

@FionnulaTheCooler

The Queen will die.
I think this is a prediction every year but no signs yet!
snapsieplopp · 30/12/2021 17:58

I think it's going to be shit.

Energy bills & food going up & the tax haven't hit yet.
NHS in a right state

Trying to be positive but...

snapsieplopp · 30/12/2021 17:59

I also think the Tories may be on the way out.

FindingMeno · 30/12/2021 17:59

We will enter a financial crisis worse than any in living memory.
There will be unrest in the USA.
The housing crisis will see families on the street.

AlecTrevelyan006 · 30/12/2021 18:00

@gorseinon

The England men's football team will not win the World Cup.
And will lose on penalties
jesuistot · 30/12/2021 18:01

Pretty much all negative predictions 😭

OP posts:
PlanetNormal · 30/12/2021 18:01

@FionnulaTheCooler

The Queen will die.
I was going to post that, then thought about how mentally robust & with-it she came across in her Xmas day speech. For better or worse, I think she has plenty of life left in her.
DeckTheHallsWithGin · 30/12/2021 18:02

The queen is definitely on the way out so that’s my prediction, followed by Australia becoming a republic and most of the rest of the commonwealth backing away slowly. Although I think if she dies soon they won’t tell us as they won’t want the crowds in London!!

1dayatatime · 30/12/2021 18:02

A few more Tory scandals regarding money
Covid cases plummet in spring and summer, everyone celebrates the end of Covid around June.
Covid cases go back up in October, Government either reintroduces restrictions and a lot of people say "nah" or the Government realises this and doesn't bother with the restrictions at which point a lot of people are up in arms at the impact on the vulnerable.
Massive increase in gas and electricity bills in April combined with surge in inflation leads to workers demanding higher wages. Inflation takes off.
Interest rates increase causing slow down in housing market.
homeowners struggle to pay mortgage, heat the house pay for food- basically everyone gets poorer.
Difficult questions raised over where exactly the Covid money was spent.
The adverse impact of Brexit becomes ever more apparent, rightwing press and Tories try to blame the EU / any particular European nation rather than admit it was a dumb idea to start with.
China / Taiwan situation gets fuzzy
Boris faces a leadership challenge and loses.
Sunak looks the best of a bad bunch to succeed him but does on account of Tory party members not liking his skin colour. Liz Truss becomes next PM as is an out of her depth rabbit caught in headlights.
Outside chance of Biden dying in office and replaced by Kamala Harris.
Priti Patel does something dumb and illegal to stop cross channel migrants.

FreedomFaith · 30/12/2021 18:05

People will struggle more next year with increased bills and salaries reducing, but government won't care.

Covid will probably end up ignored by the government, they won't care about any deaths.

NHS will continue to struggle, government won't care and may start privatisation.

Johnson will probably survive until he decides he'd rather let some other idiot handle the next issues. Once he leaves, you'll know something big is coming and likely won't be pleasant.

Suzanne999 · 30/12/2021 18:07

Boris out by April.
Covid mutates into something far less harmful that annual vaccine combined with flu vaccine will cope with.
High inflation rate.
More abusers in the Epstein/Maxwell circle prosecuted. ( I hope)
