Regarding covid, politics, anything really.
Just for fun, it’s always quite interesting to look back at these sort of threads a year later.

@FionnulaTheCooler

The Queen will die.
It's the Quern I am mostly worried about.
DroopyClematis · 31/12/2021 13:40

Charles to become Regent.

More civil unrest due to anti vaxxers.

A gap widening between people who WFH and those who cannot...much like the old white collar v blue collar snobbery.

Housing crisis will reach a critical point.

Boris will have to resign due to a particularly awful scandal that cannot be swept under a carpet or blustered away with " Err... umm.. ah..( ruffles own hair) ... bwoa...Err... right... Err... etc..."

Unless he murders someone in the street I can't think what on earth that could be.

Lavender24 · 31/12/2021 14:12

@snapsieplopp

I think it's going to be shit.

Energy bills & food going up & the tax haven't hit yet.
NHS in a right state

Trying to be positive but...

I think this too.
hangrylady · 31/12/2021 14:26

More of the same shit. I'm usually quite a positive person but I'm struggling at the moment, everything seems so glum And depressing.

ChristmasFluff · 31/12/2021 15:04

I've been expecting Frank Zappa's thoughts on freedom to become reality since 1991 - long before I heard the quote. Just a feeling of doom I had.

"The illusion of freedom will continue as long as it's profitable to continue the illusion. At the point where the illusion becomes too expensive to maintain, they will just take down the scenery, they will pull back the curtains, they will move the tables and chairs out of the way and you will see the brick wall at the back of the theater."

So I'm gonna once again predict we'll see the brick wall.

I'll probably be wrong again.

Newgirls · 31/12/2021 15:11

I’m going to try and be positive…

Boris will be replaced

More tories will lose their seats and councils like we’ve seen in Amersham and Shropshire

People will start to take more green actions eg continue to eat less meat.

Town centres will realise its not just about retail and new spaces will open for the arts, music, cheaper flats etc. Even Oxford St is changing some retail space to food and entertainment

People still holidaying in uk will help some areas make money

IntentionalError · 01/01/2023 20:09

BUMP!

So, how did those who made predictions for 2022 get on? Take a bow :
@gorseinon
@FionnulaTheCooler
@PlanetNormal
@FreedomFaith

jesuistot · 01/01/2023 20:29

Ooh thanks for bumping completely forgot about this 😂

Need to have a read through!

LadyWithLapdog · 01/01/2023 20:57

Some good predictions there!

IntentionalError · 01/01/2023 21:05

The Queen’s death was obviously likely, but it’s interesting that those who predicted Boris’s demise were right, while the covid pessimists & England football optimists were wrong. @zafferana in particular, was spot on about covid.

MoonToddler · 01/01/2023 21:13

Wow some people are very insightful....

SlipperSchlepper · 01/01/2023 21:19

Has anyone started a 2023 predictions thread? Please link to it so I can have a read...

RememberThePenguins · 30/12/2021 17:45

Covid will continue to be problematic until the spring, when it will die down again and resurge next winter causing more problems for the NHS.

The government will continue to do chuff all to solve some of the fundamental issues with the NHS.

Brexit will continue to bite. There will be more issues with imports and exports when further rule changes come in and there will be various shortages and price increases.

The government will continue to do chuff all about solving any of these issues.

Energy prices will harm many householders who find themselves having to choose between heating and eating.

The government will do chuff all about that as well.

There will be more extreme weather events. Somewhere will get flooded. Climate scientists will bang their heads against their desks as the government continues to do chuff all.

The Tories will get hammered in the local elections and Boris will get booted out. Liz Truss will take over and talk about cheese a lot.

Basically Britain will continue to experience a gradual decline and living standards will continue to fall. Poverty will rise and the rich will get richer. Fun stuff.

This post was quite accurate . @RememberThePenguins

RelievedItsOver · 01/01/2023 21:42

Amazing work, people! Some of these predictions nailed it. Is there a new thread for 2023?

IveHadEnoughNowFfs · 01/01/2023 21:45

Wow some of these were spot on! Please make a 2023 thread!

FatPatsCat · 01/01/2023 22:18

I hadn't seen this thread a year ago, I've thoroughly enjoyed reading it, though!

As per PP, if there's one for this year I'd love to read it!
