Feel unattractive after false eyelashes came off

Maddymorphosis · 30/12/2021 15:14

Had cluster lashes which stayed on just over a week, they looked great and felt 100 times more attractive, but I'm now aware they have a bad rep.

Never had false eyelashes before, I've heard they can damage your natural lashes but i can't tell if they have with mine.

I just feel so piggy eyed and plain now without them on. They are expensive, don't think I can afford them very often but feel so 'bald" without them.

Anyone else had this after eyelashes? Am I just used to seeing myself with the false ones ?

Yeah it's really normal to feel that way I think. Like the difference between being made up for a photo shoot and when you've just woken up. You'll get used to it. And if you don't you can always try magnetic lashes?

Maddymorphosis · 30/12/2021 15:18

Yes I might try the magnetic ones, just want a long term solution that isn't expensive or damaging, not sure how feasible it is !

I love a bit of glam, but I always think falsies outside of a night out/ special occasion context look a bit out of place.

I guarantee no one else thinks you have piggy eyes!

KarlUrbansWife · 30/12/2021 15:18

I'm the same, I love my extensions. You just get used to seeing yourself in them. Were they done by a pro lash tech? They should last much longer than a week, most people go 2-3 weeks between infills. I go every 3 weeks myself, just depends on your lashes, how fast they grow, drop out etc.
They are expensive but that and having my nails are my only pamper treats.

Suprima · 30/12/2021 15:19

I feel like this when my lashes come off!

I didn’t have them on over Christmas as I know I’d have a lot of lazy days at home and was off work- and you do get used to not having them on after a week!

Maddymorphosis · 30/12/2021 15:20

They were just done at a generic beauty salon, they were cluster lashes which were only supposed to last a few days.
Definitely going to buy some magnetic ones later

I bought a magnetic set from Amazon. It was only £10 for about 10 pairs. When they are on they look amazing, but the magnetic fluid is tricky to apply. They don't fall off (which was my fear).

More recently I had a lash lift and dye, and the results were really good. I am also using an eyelash enhancer which makes your eyelashes grow (it works!). My friend had to stop using the enhancer as her lashes grew so long they were touching her glasses! I no longer need to wear mascara, but I do apply some if I'm going out at night, and it's very effective.

GreenFingersWouldBeHandy · 30/12/2021 15:31

I must admit I find the ladies that come into my shop with MASSIVE eyelashes just look ridiculous.

Most male friends I know also think it's really unattractive and just makes you look 'high maintenance'.

But each to their own...

BlondeDogLady · 30/12/2021 15:31

Before and after lash lift and dye. Lasts weeks. Cost £30.

Meant to say, lasts for 6 weeks.

Dingdong99 · 30/12/2021 15:32

Get Revitalash and grow your own!

It's £££ but lasts for ages and genuinely works so long as you apply it every day

Mine have honestly grown to twice as long and thicker too. Always has rubbish lashes but now they're amazing!

BlondeDogLady · 30/12/2021 15:32

This is with NO mascara on - look much longer and thicker with mascara on, but I didn't take a pic of that.

Prinnny · 30/12/2021 15:34

Yep I constantly have extensions and hate the day or two between my next appointment if I’ve picked them off!

Couldn’t get away with magnetic ones and the liner was awful to remove!

CremeEggThief · 30/12/2021 15:35

This is why I've never had them as I know I'd feel like that too and the upkeep is damaging and expensive.

What enhancer do you use? I am far too skint to get extensions so would love something that actually works to make my own lashes look better!
2022newname · 30/12/2021 16:02

I have cluster lashes fairly often (having a break now as they do damage your lashes) and mine tend to last for a good two weeks.

I do know exactly what you mean. It’s not just the long lashes, I think it’s the “made up” look. I have used magnetic but god the eyeliner is tricky.

Suprima · 30/12/2021 16:14

But each to their own...

Oh no, men might think we are high maintenance! Grin

Men who use terms like ‘high maintenance’ are generally insecure, completely unaware of the use of photoshop and heavy-make-up-but-not on their preferred ‘naturaaaaaal’ beauties and should usually be avoided.

TheMagicPudding · 30/12/2021 16:24

I'm the same OP. I have really short straight lashes and basically look like I don't have any at all, I loved having false lashes done but struggled to maintain them and found my natural lashes worse after. I since changed to a lift and tint and it's much more manageable and still gives the appearance of fuller lashes and last a good amount of time :)

Oh no - am gutted that your “male friends” think lashes are unattractive. What does your DH think? I NEED to know.

Also men that refer to women like a performance car are always a good catch!

BlondeDogLady · 30/12/2021 16:35

This one. It's the one my beautician supplies.

Maybelline Primer is great - put it on (like mascara) and then add usual mascara and it really thickens the lashes. And is SO much cheaper than fake ones Wink

I was going to suggest primer too, its really effective

I love the way false ones and extensions look but I hate the way they feel, just find myself trying to pull them out all the time

Thevengabusiscoming · 30/12/2021 16:46

Use avacado oil on your eyelashes for them to grow will take a few weeks then just use a mascara

Cupcakeschocolate · 30/12/2021 16:47

@Dingdong99 how long have you been using it? It's quite pricey. I never wear makeup have nails done or eyelashes but would like nicer looking eye lashes. I don't like being touched much. Hence no beauty treatments. Being touched other than my kids and husband makes my skin crawl! (Childhood trauma) I don't want false ones as I don't want to have to keep getting them done. But if revitalash is worth it I would want to try.
