Feel unattractive after false eyelashes came off

Maddymorphosis · 30/12/2021 15:14

Had cluster lashes which stayed on just over a week, they looked great and felt 100 times more attractive, but I'm now aware they have a bad rep.

Never had false eyelashes before, I've heard they can damage your natural lashes but i can't tell if they have with mine.

I just feel so piggy eyed and plain now without them on. They are expensive, don't think I can afford them very often but feel so 'bald" without them.

Anyone else had this after eyelashes? Am I just used to seeing myself with the false ones ?

@KarlUrbansWife

For any eye treatment so any type of lashes Russian Volume Clusters and there a a few more types
Lash bath
Eyebrow waxing
Eyebrow Tint & shape
Lash lift
I only have the infills and eyebrow shape and tint
But I get it every 10 days so three times
a month but if I wanted to go in every week and have them infilled I could
Once every two months I have them all taken off completely and a fresh set on
So as a rule my eyelashes & eyebrows look immaculate all the time 😂
Plus because I go so often it takes around 1hr to do everything as it’s often only a few lashes that need refilling

GaolBhoAlba · 30/12/2021 18:09

I love my lash extensions. I have infills every Thursday, so ive always got the fresh lash look at the weekend. Im not keen on the long/volume look, so I have hybrid, and they look amazing. So I get you OP, i'd hate to be without them, they make me feel good 😊

BlondeDogLady · 30/12/2021 18:15

Badabingbadatinselbum

I don't know about you, but without any help my lashes will often point in different directions and I find that lash curlers don't work.

The lash lift is a bit like a perm, where they arrange your lashes in a perfect curl, and then somehow hold them in that perfect position. Then they dye them jet black. I only did this for the first time a few weeks ago and I'm pleasantly surprised to get this look without mascara!

steff13 · 30/12/2021 18:22

I get hybrid lashes every two weeks. I love the look. When I start expecting a man to do my maintenance is when I'll care about his opinion.

Tabbacus · 30/12/2021 18:24

@GreenFingersWouldBeHandy

I must admit I find the ladies that come into my shop with MASSIVE eyelashes just look ridiculous.

Most male friends I know also think it's really unattractive and just makes you look 'high maintenance'.

But each to their own...

Good job women don't get their lashes done just for men then isn't it! Also most when they said they don't like high maintenance would still prefer someone who looks made up- hypocrites.

OP tbh I bought a really great pair or eyelash curlers and use a clear mascara primer and then add one layer of mascara and of course they don't look as good, but they still look better than my normal plain ones!

Tabbacus · 30/12/2021 18:28

@WaningMoon

Afflt I agree with you. It’s a sad state of affairs that this is what people concern themselves with.

The cosmetics and “beauty” industry has really done a number of young people today.

So no one in decades past used make up? Lashes? Confused. Why come onto a thread just to be an arse. I'm sure most posters on this thread concern themselves with many other things, but just like to get their lashes done now and then.
Toddlerteaplease · 30/12/2021 18:33

I had a third year student nurse a few weeks ago, with huge road sweepers on. She looked ridiculous. We made her take them off as they are against the uniform policy. And honestly she looked so much better without them! Don't get me started on the long talons she also had on. Angry

elbea · 30/12/2021 18:44

Please don’t waste your money on ‘lash growth serum’, it’s nonsense. They categorically do not make you eyelashes grow longer faster unless you are using a prescription only product.

WaningMoon · 30/12/2021 18:50

Tabbacus

How is having a different opinion being an arse?

The beauty industry has changed massively over the past 10/15 years - and for the worst i would say, I think it’s really sad that women are so used to seeing such different/very made up versions of themselves that they think they don’t look beautiful just the way they are.

That’s not true - maybe it didn’t work for you, but it does for me and clearly others on the thread too. I bought a cheaper version from Amazon and my lashes are noticeably longer. I was asked by a friend if I’d had extensions.
ChristmasFluff · 30/12/2021 18:53

I think part of the problem is that we forget how we naturally look, and judge ourselves for looking perfectly normal.

Since I moved to the back of beyond, I have stopped wearing make-up except when I go out (rare with covid). I used to put on make-up every single day. I never did wear false lashes because I am of the age where I look like a drag queen if I do. I used to hate my face without make up. Now I'm used to it - it's just me.

I've also massively reassessed my make-up. I was wearing waaaaaay too much before. I've really toned it down - should have done it years ago. Still goth, just less drag-queen goth.

We lose sight of our true selves when we get used to seeing ourselves a certain way. You can gild a lily - but less is very often more.

londonrach · 30/12/2021 18:53

Op...I promise you you look better without them on...

Boood · 30/12/2021 19:38

“She’d be really pretty if only she had longer eyelashes” said nobody, ever.

Andylion · 30/12/2021 19:59

I agree. The number of posters who have many alternative suggestions shows how normalized this has become.

And, for the record, I, a straight woman, find this unbelievably high maintenance. Still not sure this isn’t a spoof thread.

Mummyratbag · 30/12/2021 19:59

Eyelash growth serum worked for me. I suspect that it lengthens the growth cycle, by conditioning them? They fall out less frequently and so there are more there at anytime/they grow for a longer period? I was sceptical, but it definitely made a difference. I thought it was age related and that it wouldn't work, but it did.

elbea · 30/12/2021 20:06

@Herani I’ve never felt the need to use eyelash growth serum, it’s snake oil. It is physically impossible for any of these over the counter serums to make your eyelash grow longer faster.

Revitalash doesn’t even claim to make your eyelashes grow longer, it just says helps to prevent breakage. It’s basically expensive conditioner for your eyelashes.

Uk Lash grew my eyelashes. I always get comments on the length of them, especially when I visit beauty counters. It has also made them stronger.

I now just use the serum and then wear the Charlotte Tilbury mascara which pushes them up. Too lazy for false lashes tbh.

RVN123 · 30/12/2021 20:15

The only thing genuinely proven to lengthen, thicken and darken lashes is a prostaglandin analogue called bimatoprost, which is found in glaucoma medication eye drops. It was discovered incidentally in people who were taking eye medication for glaucoma (whose lashes grew and thickened very noticeably) and the cosmetic industry jumped on this and redeveloped/rebranded it for eyelashes.
It's called Latisse (also marketed as Careprost and some others) but its impossible to get in the UK unless you order it from abroad.
Obviously then you don't really know the product you are getting is genuine.
There can be side effects though.

teddysmummyx · 30/12/2021 20:20

I had lash extensions for the best part of 3 years and when I stopped getting them I felt like miss piggy for a few weeks but I got into a routine of putting Vaseline on my eyelashes at night and got a really good benefit mascara and eyelash curler and to be honest it made me feel a lot better. I think the Vaseline on the eyelashes was more mind over matter but I was told it encourages thickness and growth 🤣 give it a go! You will get over this it is just a shock to the system!

Anotherlovelybitofsquirrel · 30/12/2021 20:28

I have tried Latisse and others. My personal experience is that Revitalash really works for me. Those that say they don't work, maybe not for you but you don't speak for everyone.

DappledThings · 30/12/2021 20:35

I'd happily bet you £100 you look better without them.

peaceanddove · 30/12/2021 20:41

Those very thick, fluttery lashes always make the wearer resemble a pantomime horse.

YesitsBess · 30/12/2021 20:50

Can't be doing with all the "oh modern beauty standards blah blah" nonsense. Mascara in some form has been around since 3000BC, and not everything revolves around the male gaze.

Unless you work in an operating theatre, food prep, or somewhere else where extra eyelashes could be a hazard if they fall off (!) then you stick whatever you want on your face and enjoy.

BeepBoopBop · 31/12/2021 22:36
@Dingdong99 how long have you been using it? It's quite pricey. I never wear makeup have nails done or eyelashes but would like nicer looking eye lashes. I don't like being touched much. Hence no beauty treatments. Being touched other than my kids and husband makes my skin crawl! (Childhood trauma) I don't want false ones as I don't want to have to keep getting them done. But if revitalash is worth it I would want to try.
Revitalash is amazing. I am asked at least once a day about my eyelashes. Occasionally I have to trim them as they are higher than my brows. You can also use it on your brow line if you have thinning brows.

You are categorically wrong.
