Does anyone else wish that the PM would stop turning up at vaccine centres, where he probably gets in the way, instead of concentrating on his own job and start solving the many problems facing this country?

OP posts:

@Pixxie7

True but it was Tony. Also all though I didn’t necessarily agree with their policies I did have some respect for their position. I have absolutely none for him.
It wasn’t really. I can’t remember anyone calling him Tony by itself - even when he was PM if you had said “Guess what, I saw Tony at the local GP surgery/ school/ factory yesterday” no one would think you were talking about the PM, they’d think you were talking about some Tony you knew. Also in headlines it was Blair, not Tony, as far as I remember. And the more I write at my the weirder a name it looks.
Sparklingbrook · 30/12/2021 09:17

I do agree that he can’t win at this point whatever he does or says will be wrong.

TheSpiral · 30/12/2021 09:17

The more I write Tony

Bigassbeebuzzbuzz · 30/12/2021 09:19

I call him Boris because to me that's what he is. I dont respect him enough to call him prime minister. Hes fuck up boris, hes a clown who for some reason people thought could run the country. I wouldnt trust him to run a tap already on.

JohnHuffam1812 · 30/12/2021 09:19

"Who would be PM in this country with such nasty vipers"

Gosh don't remember Blair, Brown, Cameron or May getting such sympathy.

Brown called a woman a bigot in private once, its still brought up 11 years later.

Johnson has said awful things about many people for a long time. Hahaha its only Boris.

BlameItOnTheBlackStar · 30/12/2021 09:24

What pissed me off most during the first lockdown when he travelled all the way to a Scottish hospital, even though nobody else was allowed to cross the border. IIRC it turned out a few of his team brought Coronavirus with them.

It was a political move to quell the rising calls for independence at the time, as if anyone gives the shiniest shite about him showing his face.

SueSaid · 30/12/2021 09:24

'he has to keep pushing the booster presumably.'

This. PM thanks staff at vaccination centres and encourages people to have boosters. It is exactly what he should be doing.

Yes I’m not sure why Boris isn’t allowed to do that!
BlameItOnTheBlackStar · 30/12/2021 09:26

For weird and personal reasons I have a newspaper article from 1989 about Thatcher and she was called just 'Maggie' in that. So I guess it was common parlance.

SueSaid · 30/12/2021 09:27

I don't why saying 'Boris' is a problem. It has come from the media and people tend to follow what that media call people.

We had 'Saddam' for Saddam Hussein as if we all knew him personally.

GoodPrincessWenceslas · 30/12/2021 09:28

YANBU. It's just ridiculous photo-opportunities for him. If he turned up where I work, I would have major difficulty being polite to him.

JohnHuffam1812 · 30/12/2021 09:29

He can push the booster from no 10.

Or if he goes to a centre he can at least wear his mask properly.

Johnson however will do anything for a photo op. Frankly I'm surprised he wasn't in hi-vis jacket.

Fairylights25 · 30/12/2021 09:29

Boris has had a much tougher time of it compared to any other PM in history, I have never seen such incredible rudeness from TV presenters and news channels witch hunts, mainly created by bitter remainers with an axe to grind and desperate to get rid of Boris. They have a very long wait I suspect.

It’s only on MN that there seems to be such fury over it. Confused Back in the real world talk about ‘Boris’ and nobody bats an eyelid or says ‘who do you mean?’ 🤷‍♀️

Johnson turning up at vaccination centres doesn't encourage anyone. NHS staff must be sick to death of his empty thanks having spent two years knocking themselves out whilst his government failed to provide basic protection and refused to pay them properly.
JohnHuffam1812 · 30/12/2021 09:32

@fairylights25

Johnson has bullshitted his way through interviews (Andrew Neil) avoided them and more.

This is what the media are supposed to do. He's been let off far easier than other.PMs in the past.

Sparklingbrook · 30/12/2021 09:33

When Boris wasn’t seen for a bit he got accused of being MIA. Then when he did appear that was wrong too.

JohnHuffam1812 · 30/12/2021 09:36

I think there is a difference between the PM not being seen to be doing his job and then turning up for photo opportunities

Sparklingbrook · 30/12/2021 09:39

For loads of people when Boris does anything at all it’s wrong.
And I’m not a huge Boris fan it’s just how it seems to me…

MerryChristmas21 · 30/12/2021 09:39

@BlameItOnTheBlackStar

I think it was to put wee Nippy back in her box! And I don't blame him!

I know she's like marmite, I actually like her, but thinking the Prime Minister (no matter who it is) needs her permission to go to Scotland?!?! She needed putting straight.

Prime Minister Johnson - nah, confers a respect that I just don't have. Boris is fine.

That’s true, although in our house she was always Thatcher or that bloody woman. My mum used to say “if I am ever injured in a big accident don’t you let that bloody woman visit me in hospital”.
Samcro · 30/12/2021 09:41

why is it nasty to point out how useless the PM is.

FatOaf · 30/12/2021 09:41

People would complain if he didn't show support

He could show support by employing someone competent to ensure consistent supplies of vaccine and test kits.

A fat oaf (natch) with no useful skills turning up at a vaccination centre with a posse of photographers and media toadies is just getting in the way, not showing support.

I'm sick of the deference some people keep showing to this lying, incompetent, corrupt excuse for a prime minister.

JohnHuffam1812 · 30/12/2021 09:44

Johnson gets a fair amount wrong though.

Garden party? No 10 parties. Breaking rules on his flat. Brexit fuck ups. Covid response

The vaccine is his one is success so far.

Because at best he misjudges the situation and at worst he is self serving .
