Been reading a bit about them and sounds like something I may trial.

Does anyone take them and if so can you sense any difference from taking them?

MissAmbrosia · 26/12/2021 16:13

I sleep better.

lobsterkiller · 26/12/2021 16:15

Brilliant for sleep and also constipation. They say its the mineral for stress.

MaxNormal · 26/12/2021 16:15

Don't take the cheap magnesium oxide ones. Unless you need a laxative then definitely do.

greatape · 26/12/2021 16:19

I do. I tend to sleep much better (and that is a fairly immediate improvement) ache a little less and they certainly help the bowels.

I cannot tolerate any of the skin sprays so
I take orally. There are a couple of liquid supplements on Amazon but I'm currently using a tablet form. I prefer the liquid tbh but it makes me wee in the night if I take it after 6 whereas the tablets don't so it's a bit trial and error.

If I don't take it I notice (I also take iron and vit d).

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 26/12/2021 16:19

I take magnesium tablets: one a day, 500g magnesium oxide per tab, bought in bags of 1000 from Lindens Health and Nutrition.

I haven't woken in the night with leg cramp since about ten days after I started taking them.

This may be entirely coincidental. I had the cramps every two or three nights for about six months, haven't had one for about four years.

Whatelsecouldibecalled · 26/12/2021 16:20

@lobsterkiller which ones do you take?

OutdoorHousePlant · 26/12/2021 16:29

Did absolutely nothing for me but I don't think there is much harm in trying

lobsterkiller · 26/12/2021 16:31

I use holland and barratt magnesium citrate. Theyre pretty hard to swallow and will look for something better once I finish these ones (they used to be coated.)

Fabulous for cranps too as a pp has said.

AlexandraEiffel · 26/12/2021 16:32

I put magnesium cream on my feet at bedtime and haven't had proper amnesia since. My sleep is still variable so it's not like magic cream, but certainly a noticeable improvement.

Sh05 · 26/12/2021 16:36

I use the Holland and Barrett spray on my legs at night especially after busy days on my feet. Stops the aches and helps with sleep.
First few times Imy legs felt really tingly but that settled.

Whostoblame · 26/12/2021 16:54

Great for restless legs! Can feel the difference if I have a break from taking it

Thecaravan · 26/12/2021 16:58

I would get muscle cramps every day in legs, feet, ribs, stomach, you name it! Since taking magnesium daily, rarely get any more which is such a relief.

FayleWatersWaters · 26/12/2021 17:11

I take them. I'm vegan and I was getting a twitchy eye all of the time prior to taking magnesium supplements. I read that there could be a link and that magnesium could help. No side effects as far as I can tell, and the twitching eye has gone (it could be a coincidence but the timing does seem to indicate that magnesium solved the problem).

Justheretoaskaquestion91 · 26/12/2021 17:15

Can you take them during pregnancy?

HarrietOh · 26/12/2021 17:16

I can get major cramps and twitching in my calf on one leg, which is nerve damage from a herniated disc. I take magnesium everyday to try and help with the cramps. Not sure if it does much but guess it doesn’t hurt to take them!

480Widdio · 26/12/2021 17:28

I take one at night,my sleep is amazing. It used to take me hours to fall asleep, now it’s minutes.

Pythian · 26/12/2021 17:34

I use the soluble magnesium citrate, it's very good. It doesn't make me sleep better but it got rid of my twitchy restless legs within a couple of days of starting it. I definitely wouldn't be without it now.

OnceuponaRainbow18 · 26/12/2021 17:48

@480Widdio

Glad to hear that! Which ones do you take? I’m
Going through an awful insomnia phase and it’s killing me

Tinylittlecabbages · 26/12/2021 17:52

Cured a lifetime of restless legs for me

Tinylittlecabbages · 26/12/2021 17:52

Still an insomniac though it has improved some

Orchidaceae · 26/12/2021 17:55

Mag 365, dissolve in hot water before bed if like or anytime. I swear by the stuff

OnceuponaRainbow18 · 26/12/2021 18:17

@Orchidaceae

For sleep?

purplesequins · 26/12/2021 18:19

magnesium citrate - for leg cramps mainly

ComeBackPeterComeBackPaul · 26/12/2021 18:27

Swear by them. My gp recommended them for my eye which would twitch if I was tired. Not a twitch since. I take them at bed time and credit them with my improved sleep.

Sonata13 · 26/12/2021 18:30

Also very good for heart palpitations and heart health in general.
