Dashed about yesterday doing the Christmas shopping and bought these by accident. I don't often drink but when I do I want a proper G&T!! So hard to tell the difference unless you're looking for it so now it's a dry Christmas for me Sad

I feel your pain I really do. However it is v clear that it's alcohol-free, even at a cursory glance.
Hope you manage to get some of the real stufGin

wankywomble · 25/12/2021 11:43

You see I don't think in the mad rush it was obvious. I picked it up, DH put through the till (had security tag attached) unpacked and put on the side with our real alcohol and only spotted it as I was popping one in a bag as a gift. Neither me or my DH noticed until now

Hm, it DOES say alcohol free pretty conspicuously. However, I can see how in a mad rush you may miss it.

For what it's worth though, I'm pregnant so currently drinking this by choice. It's actually pretty okay! Not as good as the real stuff of course, but still perfectly nice.

LakieLady · 25/12/2021 11:50

If you live between Brighton and Tunbridge Wells, I have spare gin, proper gin, that I could get to you later on!

No gin counts as a life-threatening emergency imo. Mind you, I'm a twat because I forgot to get any limes.

kwiksavenofrillsusername · 25/12/2021 11:50

Went to Lidl yesterday and they had a huge display of gin, and about five or six varieties were alcohol free! I’m sure a couple of pregnant women are craving, but surely there’s not that much demand for it?

LeedleLee · 25/12/2021 11:54

@kwiksavenofrillsusername not just pregnant women, more people than ever are choosing not to drink. Apparently now 30% of 18-25 year olds never drink alcohol.

astoundedgoat · 25/12/2021 11:57

@SoniaFouler

That’s hilarious, check the wine too, it says NOT GRIGIO
lololol Grin Grin Grin
wankywomble · 25/12/2021 12:00

@kwiksavenofrillsusername call me a cynic but I think that is probably because alcohol is not their substance of choice

Myonlysunshine123 · 25/12/2021 12:01

I would have such a tantrum at that! Has anybody bought you a bottle if that's what you drink? ( I mentioned prosecco so many times that I got quite a few bottles)Wink

FlamingoQueen · 25/12/2021 12:02

Have you tried it? It actually tastes just like the alcoholic gin!

wankywomble · 25/12/2021 12:05

Tbh it may taste fine but will not make me feel happy, warm and fuzzy!

OP posts:
bantuknots73 · 25/12/2021 12:05

@phishy

How on earth did you miss that?

It says alcohol free quite clearly, it’s not even miniscule.

I was gonna say the same thing😂
MsEmmeline · 25/12/2021 12:06

I'd really like to try this now 😄. / Googles

BarbaraofSeville · 25/12/2021 12:08

Really? I've had seedlip and it tastes nothing like proper gin
DontKeepTheFaith · 25/12/2021 12:14

This is why I always have a cupboard full of gin😉

If you were closer, I would happily give you a bottle but probably easier to find a local open store than trek to the South coast🤣🤣

TBF, it is quite clear it’s alcohol free!

Thatsplentyjack · 25/12/2021 12:19

So hard to tell the difference unless you're looking for it

🤣 is it? It seems emblazoned on the front to me. Still shit for you though OP. I'll not be drinking either. I'll eat today and drink tomorrow 🤣

MsEmmeline · 25/12/2021 12:20

Seedlip's three flavours aren't actually trying to taste like gin though TBF. Has anyone tried all three?

Guttedbuyer · 25/12/2021 12:23

Does anyone actually study the bottle when they’re buying it though? (especially in a rush)

You see a Gordon’s bottle and you pick it up or an Hendricks bottle and pick it up. Not like wine when you’re reading different labels on the same bottle. I can see how OP would make this mistake.

Dobbyismyabsolutefav · 25/12/2021 12:25

What a pain. I just popped on to say it does actually taste like gin. My DH has this when he is the nominated driver, as soft drinks are a bit dull when out with friends.

Tal45 · 25/12/2021 12:25

Apparently nolo alcohol is trendy (ie no or low alcohol drinks) - so you're on trend at least :-D

viques · 25/12/2021 12:25

Runs very fast to check bargain bottle of blue sapphire from Tesco’s...........

Phew.

SisterAgatha · 25/12/2021 12:26

YANBU. Poor sod x

bunnyboilerx · 25/12/2021 12:26

Your local corner shop should be open to grab some, mine is. Xmas Grin

Decemberfinances · 25/12/2021 12:27

I hear you OP! I hate this when I accidentally pick up ' fat free' whatever. I wanted the fat!

They should have totally different labels for 'free' versions.

Still, not as bad as a colleague who gave his five year old a can of Irn Bru, not realising it was the alcopop version....he only realised when she was crying drunk and falling over.....

You need totally different labels, people!

Booklover3 · 25/12/2021 12:29

Don’t open it and you can take it back.

Pop to a corner shop and get the real stuff
