Livid my Gordon's Gin is alcohol free

Dashed about yesterday doing the Christmas shopping and bought these by accident. I don't often drink but when I do I want a proper G&T!! So hard to tell the difference unless you're looking for it so now it's a dry Christmas for me Sad

@notacooldad

Going to say something controversial.

I quite like alcohol free gin...
Nothing controversial about that. I cant get over the dramatic posts just because it's an alcohol free drink. I'd just shrug and have it with my tonic anyway. No big deal for me.

Me too. I'm working nights anyway tonight but I'm going to be having a seedlip and tonic before I go in, I find it extremely acceptable

@Decemberfinances

Who are these people who say it was obvious? These people, tell the truth, for every item you put in your weekly shop, do you read the whole label? Or do you spot the item by its familiar packaging and throw it in the trolley?

Thought so.

No offence but that's your own stupid fault.
CurlyhairedAssassin · 25/12/2021 19:27

The worst thing about these alcohol free things are that people who don’t know anything about wine or spirits don’t realise and buy you them for presents. Elderly aunties go “I know you like your wine so I got you this” and it’s some horrible fruity sweet “light” version of wine. Ie not wine!

Titsywoo · 25/12/2021 19:50

Just drink it and save yourself the hangover

NumaNumaYay · 25/12/2021 20:02

@TonTonMacoute can you explain more? Surely both usages are adjectives describing the noun? The "free" is a modifier of "alcohol" in both cases?

(Not trying to be arsey but do want to understand! )

Doesntfeellikexmas · 25/12/2021 20:08

That's rubbish.

I do think it's quite obvious. Bit could also imagine me just seeing bottle and not reading the label and doing the same.

Friendviv1987 · 25/12/2021 20:14

How bloody disappointing...do you have a corner shop you can get proper Gin from?!!Xx

DramaAlpaca · 25/12/2021 20:20

Seedlip isn't too bad, I don't mind it, but that Gordon's one is really nasty - and I bought the zero alcohol one deliberately. It's quite an obvious difference from the normal bottle.

Spidey66 · 25/12/2021 20:23

There’s 3 mini markers/corner shops open all in 5 mins of my house. Surely there’s somewhere open unless you’re very rural?

Spidey66 · 25/12/2021 20:23

Markers=markets

Spidey66 · 25/12/2021 20:25

Even if there isn’t one day without gin never killed snyone!

I need to know this too!

LizzieBananas · 26/12/2021 07:44

How much was it!? I hope you haven’t had to pay £20 for some flavoured water, no matter what the brand.

Cascascascas · 26/12/2021 08:28

@wankywomble

Well that alcohol free Gordon’s gin zero is amazing and if you don’t have normal gin to compare too you will think it’s the real deal

Enjoy.

OliveHenry · 31/12/2021 08:27

Incidentally, Home Bargains have an ultra low alcohol "gin spirit" drink which isn't a bad gin alternative, and only costs £3.99 per bottle!
