AIBU to be upset with DH

I’ve done everything for Christmas. Kids gifts, food, house etc.
I’ve lost a lot of weight and got very fit this year and wanted something nice for Christmas to show off - a pretty underwear set basically. I sent my DH details and he said he would get it for me. He did click and collect back in November and collected and put it away. I suggested I have a look to make sure size was ok, but he never gave them to me. Anyway, I’ve been looking forward to getting them for weeks, he has never given me anything like that before. Get to Christmas morning and he hands me my gift. It’s a rituals body scrub. I was puzzled, said to him about the underwear. Turns out he has collected someone else’s click and collect and not noticed. The underwear set was expensive, much more than the body scrub he has ended up with. I can’t understand how he wrapped this and didn’t realise it was not what he had ordered or what I had sent him pictures of. Now a month later I can’t see the shop believing him.
I feel so disappointed, I know it’s a mistake, but he didn’t even check and then obviously has so little interest in my hot underwear set he didn’t even realise when wrapping. AIBU?

I doubt it was the shop that made the mistake - hence why he never wanted to show you.

Sweetsaremyfave · 25/12/2021 08:32

That is very strange behaviour, I would be very annoyed!

Is he normally this useless??

Shoxfordian · 25/12/2021 08:33

He sounds thoughtless
Is he usually like this? Are you sure he’s not given the underwear to someone else? Don’t you need a code or a name for click and collect?

ScaredOfDinosaurs · 25/12/2021 08:33

I can't see how this is a mistake, the difference would be obvious!

Does he have form for being a cheapskate?

Bluntness100 · 25/12/2021 08:34

I very much doubt this story to be true. Unless he has some learning difficulties you’ve not mentioned, otherwise he’s lied to you and just bought you the scrub,

PinkiOcelot · 25/12/2021 08:34

I’ve got no words! Underwear feels different to body scrub surely. I can understand why you’re upset. He’s shown no interest and put in zero effort.

RowsOfHolly · 25/12/2021 08:37

Not enough eye rolls.

Well, whatever has gone on here, celebrate your achievement in getting fit and losing weight…. Hit the sales and buy two sets of fab underwear.

Loudestcat14 · 25/12/2021 08:38

He's lying about the click and collect. He obviously didn't order the underwear in time and panic-bought the scrub this week when he realised. Make him order it now as a belated present!

LadyWithLapdog · 25/12/2021 08:40

Well done for the weight loss (any tips?). Bizarre of your DH, not quite sure I'd believe it.

thefirstmrsrochester · 25/12/2021 08:42

I could see my DH doing something like this, not checking etc. His complete lack of effort and interest is why I buy my own Xmas gift and he transfers me the money.

Christmaseveagonyaunt · 25/12/2021 08:42

I don't believe him. Buy your own. He obviously isn't bothered

thisplaceisapigsty · 25/12/2021 08:42

What's this about wrapping up the underwear then? I dont understand - he wrapped up the wrong set, so when did he realise it was wrong?

Shehasadiamondinthesky · 25/12/2021 08:45

I divorce husbands for bring this useless I dont want a useless man in my house they bore me.

LakieLady · 25/12/2021 08:48

And hopefully wieghs a lot less!
Mamamia7962 · 25/12/2021 08:49

I can't see how this could have happened. Some places ask for ID for click and collect, at the very least you have to give your name and postcode, so I think he has lied.

HacerSonarSusPasos · 25/12/2021 08:50

Oh wow, he's either shamelessly lying to you or he has the IQ of a potato! Don't let him get away with it! You're teaching him to walk all over you.

HerbivorousRex · 25/12/2021 08:50

I’m sometimes guilty of not checking online orders until I get around to wrapping them- however, surely it was obvious when he picked it up that it was the incorrect item (a tub of body scrub feels different to a package containing clothes etc) and the fact he wouldn’t let you check the size (and obviously didn’t bother to check himself) would make me suspicious that he hadn’t actually ordered it and then panic bought some bath stuff this week when he realized it was out of stock.
I assume it was bought from somewhere that stocks both items (e.g. John Lewis/Selfridges) so I’d suggest that he gives you the order email so you can try to sort it out. At least then you’ll know if he ordered it or not. I think I’d be particularly upset if he’d lied about it rather than just owning up to forgetting to order it and apologizing.

Mamamia7962 · 25/12/2021 08:50

Shehasadiamond - How many husbands have you had?

hamstersarse · 25/12/2021 08:50

Ew.
How mean.

The thought of you getting it and wearing it for him at any time in the near future is also ruined.

Sorry op. I’d be somewhat questioning why my dh wasn’t thrilled to get some sexy underwear, it sounds like you gave him very specific instructions and it’s a gift that’s sort of for him too

gamerchick · 25/12/2021 08:51

He's lied to you OP. Then be lied again today. Sorry man.

Shopgirl1 · 25/12/2021 08:51

He went looking for the receipt / collection docket. I’ve seen it, it’s is someone else’s order. I can’t understand how he wrapped it and it didn’t cross his mind that it wasn’t the underwear set ordered.

OP posts:
grapewine · 25/12/2021 08:52

What a useless man. As if body scrub and underwear can be mixed up. Idiot.

icedcoffees · 25/12/2021 08:54

So it has someone else's name and address on it?
pansypotter123 · 25/12/2021 08:56

And meanwhile, somewhere very near to you, somebody's 90 year old granny is opening a set of very luxurious underwear and thinking......... 🤣

PurplePansy05 · 25/12/2021 08:57

My first thought was he gave the underwear to someone else.

I'm very confused about what went on here, surely he'd have noticed at the point of wrapping it?
