AIBU to be upset with DH

I’ve done everything for Christmas. Kids gifts, food, house etc.
I’ve lost a lot of weight and got very fit this year and wanted something nice for Christmas to show off - a pretty underwear set basically. I sent my DH details and he said he would get it for me. He did click and collect back in November and collected and put it away. I suggested I have a look to make sure size was ok, but he never gave them to me. Anyway, I’ve been looking forward to getting them for weeks, he has never given me anything like that before. Get to Christmas morning and he hands me my gift. It’s a rituals body scrub. I was puzzled, said to him about the underwear. Turns out he has collected someone else’s click and collect and not noticed. The underwear set was expensive, much more than the body scrub he has ended up with. I can’t understand how he wrapped this and didn’t realise it was not what he had ordered or what I had sent him pictures of. Now a month later I can’t see the shop believing him.
I feel so disappointed, I know it’s a mistake, but he didn’t even check and then obviously has so little interest in my hot underwear set he didn’t even realise when wrapping. AIBU?

I work in a supermarket that does click and collect, we often get the wrong things in the wrong packages - it will have your name and order number on the box but Mrs Smith's items inside, and you only find that out when you open the box - especially at Christmas, so it is not out of the realm of possibility that he genuinely received the wrong item as some people are suggesting.

What is out of the realm of probability is that he didn't notice that the "underwear" he bought was the wrong item until it was opened ... its not like it was a similar/clothing item, a tub of body scrub is very obviously not underwear and he has had plenty of time to check the box and either tell you before today about the mix up (if thr stuff you wanted was out of stock when he went to reorder it) or find something similar. YANBU to be upset at the lack of general effort put in.

Yes, he's an idiot for not checking but I don't think he's gone so far as to forge e-mails from six weeks ago!

Speechless. This is awful on several levels. Does this fool have a job? It's hard to believe he's capable of holding one down. Sadly I suspect he's highly competent in all other areas of life and chooses when to be utterly braindead.

If he could be bothered to forge documents, he could be bothered to sort out an exchange.

I don't think he intentionally bought lingerie for someone else or crap for OP, but he doesn't give a shit that it happened.

Thanks for all the responses. He is normally a competent human being with a professional job and ok around the house - he does cook for example and does a lot with the kids. He has form for taking me for granted though and doesn’t do much in terms of romantic gestures. I had hoped buying me lingerie might spark things up. Clearly not.
He is going in to the shop tomorrow to see what can be done and what happened to my order. It was probably swapped with the rituals body scrub orderer. He says he did have doubts when wrapping, but had kind of forgot about the underwear and just thought it was what I wanted…I’d screen shot my basket with the right sizes so he couldn’t go wrong and know he did place the right order.
I think he just didn’t check and then forgot. I am just sick of being last on the priority list. Will see how he fixes things tomorrow.

Well I will probably get the money from him and then he can give it to me. Presents to each other don’t come from our joint account.

The bar really is on the floor with some men isn't it. Every year my dad says to me "are you impressed that I remembered to buy your mum a Christmas present and wrapped it up myself?". And every year I say "no dad, I'm not".

Just to finish this story, we went in to the store this morning and they still had the lingerie set awaiting collection so I have it now and the rituals body scrub is back with them. Hopefully my husband has learned his click and collect lesson.
