AIBU to be upset with DH

I’ve done everything for Christmas. Kids gifts, food, house etc.
I’ve lost a lot of weight and got very fit this year and wanted something nice for Christmas to show off - a pretty underwear set basically. I sent my DH details and he said he would get it for me. He did click and collect back in November and collected and put it away. I suggested I have a look to make sure size was ok, but he never gave them to me. Anyway, I’ve been looking forward to getting them for weeks, he has never given me anything like that before. Get to Christmas morning and he hands me my gift. It’s a rituals body scrub. I was puzzled, said to him about the underwear. Turns out he has collected someone else’s click and collect and not noticed. The underwear set was expensive, much more than the body scrub he has ended up with. I can’t understand how he wrapped this and didn’t realise it was not what he had ordered or what I had sent him pictures of. Now a month later I can’t see the shop believing him.
I feel so disappointed, I know it’s a mistake, but he didn’t even check and then obviously has so little interest in my hot underwear set he didn’t even realise when wrapping. AIBU?

I’m sorry. That’s really shit.
I’m bloody impressed with your weight loss! Well done. I hope you can treat yourself in the sales and I also hope your DH is suitably remorseful when the penny finally fucking drops.

Very possibly the correct order will still be with the retailer awaiting collection, not ideal but you should get the intended gift, albeit not till the shops reopen.

Op, how can this possibly be true? Unless it's all in a box and he put it straight under the tree from click and collect? One is heavy and cylinder shaped, the other is light. Also, who doesn't look at the present at all when wrapping it?!?

sheroku · 25/12/2021 08:59

If my partner fucked up like this he'd be mortified and would be on the internet right now buying me a new, much more expensive set to make up for it. Is he doing that? If not then he's being a jerk.

jetadore · 25/12/2021 09:03

I can’t understand how he wrapped this and didn’t realise it was not what he had ordered

He did realise, I assume it was taken out of the delivery bag prior to wrapping so amply opportunity to see what it was? and unless someone else wrapped it for him? He just couldn’t care or be bothered to warn you or try to rectify it. Either way inconsiderate and YANBU to be upset.

@pansypotter123

And meanwhile, somewhere very near to you, somebody's 90 year old granny is opening a set of very luxurious underwear and thinking......... 🤣

Joking aside, did he just wrap up the box the order came in without even checking, or did he open the package and wrapped the body scrub regardless?

Brilliant 😅 And some 90 year old husband either looking terrified or thinking he's going to have the best Xmas ever 🤣

Hope478 · 25/12/2021 10:11

What do you mean, you've seen that it is someone else's order?

Bagelsandbrie · 25/12/2021 10:14

None of that makes any sense.

He just hasn't ordered it in the first place has he?

StruggleStreet · 25/12/2021 10:16

Thoughtless idiot. What did you get for him? I’d confiscate his gift until he can do better.

Shopgirl1 · 25/12/2021 10:17

The rituals scrub was in a box from the department store, he just wrapped it. The collection receipt has a completely different persons name on it. I hope it is there waiting for collection. Doubt it though, it was ordered and collected in November. It’s also now sold out.

So he didn't even notice when he wrapped it?

This whole thing sounds ridiculous.

I find it very hard to believe that this has happened, but whatever.

The fact he didn't even care to check what it was when he picked it up/stored it/was wrapping it shows exactly what he thinks of his wife, doesn't it?

Bagelsandbrie · 25/12/2021 10:25

So when you suggested trying it on for size what was he thinking then? Didn’t he think oh I haven’t got it? So weird!

Shopgirl1 · 25/12/2021 10:33

@Hope478 that’s exactly why I’m so upset, he didn’t even bother to check. I’d also picked out running gloves for him to give me and he didn’t even wrap them, I had to ask where they were before heading out for a run to clear my head this morning.
He has promised to go in tomorrow and try and sort it and that he will buy a similar set, but it’s not about the set anymore, I’m just so annoyed he was so laid back and couldn’t be bothered getting what he knew I wanted and thought he had bought. I know he did order the set, I’ve seen the confirmation email.

DrSbaitso · 25/12/2021 10:38

Is he shit all year round?

I mean, I know the answer, but I need to ask to get all the "YOU HARRIDANS JUST ALL HATE ALL MEN FOR NO REEEEEEEEEEEEASON" pissbabies off the track. Go on. All the rest of the year, is he thoughtful, attentive and ready to do his share at home?

WinterSunglasses · 25/12/2021 10:38

What does he propose to do about it? Since he screwed up by not checking the order, I don't think a shrug and 'oh well' is enough. If the set you wanted is currently out of stock, I think you should look for and order another set and he can get that between Christmas and new year. As well as going back to the store to ask about the original missing set. Put all that to him as the solution.

WineIsMyMainVice · 25/12/2021 10:39

I would be furious. How thoughtless. You deserve better.

OrangeShark27 · 25/12/2021 10:48

I just don't understand how you can be this useless. How did he not notice it was someone else's parcel? Surely he would have got emails from the company indicating he had yet to collect his parcel? What's actually in the other parcel?

Look he can go in tomorrow and sort out an equally nice set of underwear, it's possible his original parcel is still there. Its his problem to sort out right now

Regularsizedrudy · 25/12/2021 11:01

He must be spectacularly stupid

KatherineJaneway · 25/12/2021 11:05

He knew, he just couldn't be arsed to get it changed Xmas Sad
