WHAT THE BLOODY HELL IS WRONG WITH TOMMEE TIPPEE BOTTLES????!!!!!

Not an aibu but I'm seriously at my witts end and need help!!! Does anyone know what can be done to stop Tommee Tippee bottles from leaking? We have the anti colic ones plus the standard bottles and the bottles leak non stop. Especially when we're making bottles and have to shake for 10 secs to mix the formula.

Somehow we've been dealing with this for 7 months but are now expecting a second and I can't be dealing with this nonsense day to day. If no one has any suggestions on what to do to stop the leaking, is there any other bottles that you'd recommend? Please help!!

I used the Avent ones for my first don't remember any leaks. I still use the bottles as measuring jugs.

OGenkiDesuKa · 21/12/2021 23:29

I used those with my first but never experienced leaking.

We’re using mam bottles and now and they’re brilliant.

Hated those with a passion! They leak and also I always found the teat sort of sucked in so you had to keep poking the side of it out! MAM ones are infinitely better, get those instead and burn the Tommie tippees!

AngeloMysterioso · 21/12/2021 23:31

You can get separate lids to put on when you shake them or for if you’re storing formula or expressed milk in the fridge.

NuffSaidSam · 21/12/2021 23:32

I've never known them to leak unless the top isn't put on properly.

I've used many bottle brands and have never had a problem with leaking tbh.

Tomlettegregg · 21/12/2021 23:33

Get Mam. I had 9 Tommee bottles I never used and swore I will never again buy more of 1 baby product no matter who recommends it. Way easier to try before you buy in bulk.

chinabumps85 · 21/12/2021 23:33

I only heard of Mam bottles after I started using Tommee Tippee ones but I think I may look into them! I always see positive things on here about them tbh.

@Liervik yeah we also swirl too as I know less bubbles are better for their wind. They leak whilst we're making them but then also leak once we're feeding her too. It's just a nightmare🤦‍♀️

I’ve used mam for 3 DC now and they only leak when we’ve not screwed it together properly.

No advice beyond throw them away and buy MAM.

All my friends told me to save myself the agro and just buy MAM

chinabumps85 · 21/12/2021 23:37

For those saying they haven't experienced leaking with Tommee Tippee bottles, has anyone used the anti colic bottles? I think the stick in the middle has something to do with the leaking and makes it more complicated for whatever reason

OP posts:
black2black · 21/12/2021 23:39

We use them and they don’t leak. I have to shake them thoroughly too as we use reflux milk and it’s thicker so needs mixing better.

Make sure you tighten them with only the the teat on as you get a better grip, then put the lid on, if you need to.

black2black · 21/12/2021 23:39

Btw we don’t use the colic ones. If you’re baby is 7 months now they’ll probably be fine with normal ones.

Justananimalcrossing · 21/12/2021 23:42

It's been a while since I used bottles. I can't recall them every regularly leaking but they did sometimes suck themselves in. I used to squeeze this bit inside the teat before screwing the lid on which stopped it from sucking in. Hope that helps (& actually makes sense).

I had this with Dr Brown bottles, I phoned them and they sent me replacement parts so might be worthwhile calling them or using social media to contact the
EbbandTheWanderingHearts · 21/12/2021 23:47

I've never experienced them leaking but found the teat would suck in if you were using too small a hole for the age of the baby. I.E using a number 1 teat for a 6 month old. Personally I used Avent with mine and never had an issue but have used Tommee Tippee in the nursery I work in without a problem.

TerribleCustomerCervix · 21/12/2021 23:49

Another here who moved from TT bottles to Mam- thankfully we only had three TT so it wasn’t a massive waste when I had enough and replaced them.

The Mam self sterilising ones are fantastic.

BuntyCollocks · 21/12/2021 23:50

They’re shite.
Get mam or nuk

Franca123 · 21/12/2021 23:53

Two problems spring to mind. The two bottles types you mention require different teats. I know I bought the wrong teat once and it always leaked. Secondly, are you putting the stem in hot water? This can cause an air bubble and a leak. These bottles drove me crazy until I realised the mistakes I was making.

northernsquirrel · 21/12/2021 23:53

The colic ones with the colour stick in the middle are awful for leaking! Forever burning myself while mixing the milk. I got rid of them and went back to normal tommee tippee ones which are much better.

BatshitBanshee · 21/12/2021 23:53

Tommee Tippee bottles nearly sent me over the edge. NUK bottles are so much better, haven't had an issue with them at all.

Ooo yes that definitely makes sense, I'll give that a go and see if that makes any difference. Thank you:)

😂 honestly. I've been saying 'these bottles are fucking shite' for the past 7 months and haven't done anything about it. More fool me!
