So I have 3 children already.. names begin with H, H and T.. the two H’s was unintentional although it is cute because they have a really small age gap between them.

I’m now about to pop with my 4th and again there is a small age gap between this one and the 3rd.. plenty of people saying we should go for a T name so it matches the 3rd but there’s none I like.

However.. there is another H name I’ve now fallen in love with, but family think it’d be wrong to use that and leave the one child without a matching name?

Is this whole thing silly, or do you agree with them that we shouldn’t use a H name? Hmm

YABU.. don’t use the H name
YANBU.. use the H name

I don’t think anyone will clock the initial thing really, so go with a name you love!

Aquamarine1029 · 15/12/2021 18:36

Use the name you love.

Suzzzzzzie · 15/12/2021 18:38

Hmm… 3 Hs and one other initial does seem like one kid was left out of a trend.

Any other names you like that are neither H nor T?

BobbieT1999 · 15/12/2021 18:38

but family think it’d be wrong to use that and leave the one child without a matching name

I think that's ridiculous! Use whatever name you like!

user1473878824 · 15/12/2021 18:39

You’ve massively overthinking this!

hangrylady · 15/12/2021 18:40

How ridiculous.

FuzzyPenguin · 15/12/2021 18:40

I wouldn’t use the H name but that’s because my dad, mum and sister’s name all start with the same letter and I didn’t. Really used to bother me as a kid.

Nsky · 15/12/2021 18:40

Depends on boy or girl

jimjamgirl · 15/12/2021 18:43

I'm a "C" and my three siblings are all "S" - never made me feel left out or marginalised in any way! Go with the name you like and don't overthink it.

SkankingMopoke · 15/12/2021 18:43

It will be a pain when mail starts arriving addressed to Mr/Miss H Surname and they are old enough to be bothered about someone opening their post... (you don't give their sexes, but with 3 having the same initial you will definitely have this problem between at least 2 of them)

QuillBill · 15/12/2021 18:46

Mail!

She's not having her children in the 90's. I've got two teenagers and the only mail they get is birthday cards and the letter from the Child Trust Fund once a year.

belimoo · 15/12/2021 18:48

My older siblings have the same initial and I don't. Funnily enough I was wondering about it just the other day and I'm in my thirties!

It's never massively bothered me and I've assumed they just liked my name but it's definitely something I've noticed and thought was a little strange.

mathanxiety · 15/12/2021 18:50

You're right, @QuillBill.

The days of the posted letter are numbered.

Santahatesbraisedcabbage · 15/12/2021 18:51

Well if it's good enough for the Rooney's. They have 3 x I names and 1 C..
Grin
Unintentionally my dc have the same initial as 1 other..

Tiredasamf · 15/12/2021 18:52

@Suzzzzzzie there is another name we like that starts with B, but I prefer the H one!

If gender makes a difference, first H is a boy, second H is a girl, then T is a boy

OP posts:
Seafog · 15/12/2021 18:54

I'd go with the B name

Classica · 15/12/2021 18:54

The Kardashians have Kim, Kourtney, Khloe, Kylie, Kendall

and Rob.

I hate that I know this.

Kpo58 · 15/12/2021 18:55

Why not go for a name with a completely different initial? It would make working out who's post is whose much easier in the future.

PatriotCanes · 15/12/2021 18:56

I grew up next to a family consisting of Paul, his wife Pauline and their daughter Paula and their son Not-Paul. I cannot remember his actual name, we just called him Not Paul. So based on that I would say no, find a not-H name.

GotToGoBye · 15/12/2021 18:58

Not concerned about initials, more if they are very similar names

Like Harry Harriet Harold Harrow

canarycages · 15/12/2021 19:03

My brother and my father have the same initial and my sister and my mother do. I was very pleased with the fact that I had my own "letter" when I was a child. If you like it, go for it.

SunshineCake1 · 15/12/2021 19:04

Have the name you like but now on earth is it cute that two kids have the same initial ?Confused .
You are naming a person not entering a am I cute and clever contest. Sadly it is always the kid who gets teased about name related things. Not the parents who named the child.

Skeumorph · 15/12/2021 19:06

Ah the only thing I wouldn't do is use the H name. It is a bit pointed!!!

Hugo, Harriet, Tiramisu and Heidi. It sounds odd!

Mylittlecoconuts · 15/12/2021 19:10

@Classica

The Kardashians have Kim, Kourtney, Khloe, Kylie, Kendall

and Rob.

I hate that I know this.

@Classica

The girls have a K after the mum and the boy an R after the dad.

I hate that I know this too.....

TurnUpTurnip · 15/12/2021 19:15

Hmm I personally wouldn’t use another H name but I wouldn’t even without the T child, too many the same for me
