Feel like I’m one of the few thinking this way

If you’re posting to abuse me and call me a toddler/selfish/sim etc for not sharing your opinion, don’t bother as you’ll just get reported.

I respect that everyone has their own views and anxieties

I’ve started feeling fed up lately and unsure as to why people who’ve had 3 vaccines now feel the need to impose their own lockdown as such, I know people who’ve decided to limit contact, not going to Christmas parties etc.
I don’t know what the point was of having 3 vaccines if people are expected to carry on restricting their life?

People saying ‘Oooh I hope we don’t have another lockdown soon” whilst it’s clear they would readily accept and are probably hoping for one.

I hate how people who don’t want the vaccine have been made to feel, and I imagine that a lot of these people claiming to be so altruistic didn’t have the flu jab, I certainly didn’t. I also imagine they didn’t self isolate every time they had the flu or similar.

I feel like I’m almost alone with these thoughts and I don’t know who to turn to. Would just be interested to hear from like minded people.

I am not clear what you mean OP.

How does it affect you if someone has been vaccinated but still elects to take precautions that limit their social activity? Do you think they have no right to do that?

CapBarnacles · 02/12/2021 15:30

I'm vaccinated but still being cautious about being in large groups/enclosed spaces because I have contact with vulnerable people. Not bothered about being exposed to it myself, but concerned about passing it on. Prevalence is the highest it's ever been in my area. It will drop again in spring and then I will adjust my behaviour accordingly.

Also, it's quite a good excuse to not have to attend tedious social events Grin

Electricdreams22 · 02/12/2021 15:31

They do have the right, but it’s some friends etc who I was hoping to see over Christmas and parties that are now cancelled.
And I’ll likely get told “It’s not all about you”, no it isn’t, I’m just getting stressed by it all though.

I ‘did my bit’ by having 3 vaccines and I’m not prepared to do any more

Electricdreams22 · 02/12/2021 15:32

Yes I understand that, I’m just letting others get to me when I shouldn’t.

OP posts:
Skyll · 02/12/2021 15:33

I’m vaccinated.

I’m not going to anything before Christmas because it is really important to me that I do as much as I can to make sure Christmas happens.

I’m not doing anything that will jeopardise that

Diditreallylookawful · 02/12/2021 15:34

I'm still taking precautions and I've been triple jabbed. How does that affect you?

KJW000 · 02/12/2021 15:34

I'm also fed up and now carry on with my life as normal as I can without a second thought Smile

Sparklingbrook · 02/12/2021 15:39

Are any of them doing it to protect vulnerable or elderly relatives?

User2638483 · 02/12/2021 15:41

Well… it’s because the big concern is that the vaccines won’t protect against omicron isn’t it. Or have you been living under a rock?

User2638483 · 02/12/2021 15:42

And even without Omicron, we all know people that have caught it despite being vaccinated.

TopTabby · 02/12/2021 15:46

I'm carrying on as normal. Double vaccinated, booster at the weekend. Lateral flow twice a week & would do extra if meeting vulnerable people as Covid is rife at work. Wear a mask again now it's supposedly law although I'd say only 50% of people here are complying. Not sure what else we're all supposed to do but I won't be cancelling anything unless I absolutely have to.

BobbieT1999 · 02/12/2021 15:47

I'm not clear on what you're getting at from your first post...are you against vaccines, masks or social distancing and lockdowns? Do you believe covid is just another flu?

It is tough to have to isolate again after being fully vaccinated but as pp have said, it's because we don't yet know if this virus is resistant to the vaccines. We should know more in a couple of weeks.

People are being extra cautious as well because even if they're not vulnerable to the disease the probably know someone who is and it just isn't worth it for a party.

I think the gov is being deliberately obtuse with instructions because they're hedging their bets. Hmm

Chasingaftermidnight · 02/12/2021 15:47

I know lots of vaccinated people who are ‘imposing their own lockdown’ because they want to see relatives at Christmas, when they couldn’t see them at all last year. They don’t want to be told to isolate a week before Christmas or to give it to elderly relatives. Doesn’t seem unreasonable to me at all.

That’s what I’m doing. Not for an elderly relative but so I can see my eldest son who is home at Christmas for the first time in years and years.
DrManhattan · 02/12/2021 15:49

Not sure what you mean but if I can wear my mask and wash my hands, I don't see what else I can do.

God, I wish they would. Then I wish I could just hide that entire board of cranks.
DismantledKing · 02/12/2021 15:54

Endless bloody threads about the same thing.

Throckmorton · 02/12/2021 15:54

Why would you assume that cautious triple jabbed people didn't have the flu jab, and don't stay home when they have the flu? That a weird assumption to make

Skyll · 02/12/2021 15:54

Yup. I don’t know how to hide the board though or I would. I’m scunnered with it.

Sparklingbrook · 02/12/2021 15:55

I don't think that choosing to not go on a few nights out is the same as imposing your own lockdown really. It's just being a bit cautious so that they can still enjoy Christmas when it finally arrives.

gogohm · 02/12/2021 15:57

I get what you are saying. I'm vaccinated, apprehensive about the side effects from the booster booked for the weekend but will have it, and I'm not cutting back on socialising ... seeing a band on Saturday

Vintagevixen · 02/12/2021 15:57

Limit news to once a day max and go about your life - that's what I do.

I am seeing family, friends, going to packed places. I really am very unconcerned and definitely won't be limiting anything. I will be having Christmas with my family whatever the government says.

kikipie · 02/12/2021 15:58

I don’t understand the op. You do what you want and let other people do what they want.

gogohm · 02/12/2021 15:58

Only precaution I've taken is I have a frozen 3 bird roast and all the veggies just in case Grin
