Never think about it. Live in a semi, but thick walls I guess. Never hear next door, never had a complaint so assume they never hear us either.

JunoMcDuff · 18/11/2021 21:41

Anytime I like. Hoover generally not past the kids bedtime but I do if I need to. End terrace.

Cuwins · 18/11/2021 21:41

We live in a mid floor flat and while sound proofing is pretty good on the whole I wouldn't want to run the washing machine past 9pm as it does rather make everything vibrate! The hoover I will run very briefly to clear up something small but I wouldn't do a whole floor hoover after that time either.

Scrowy · 18/11/2021 21:42

I put the washing machine on at 12.40am this morning.

Vacuum whenever I'm expecting guests regardless of time.

Nearest neighbours about 4 miles away

Pinkandpurplehairedlady · 18/11/2021 21:42

I make sure my washing machine and dryer have finished by 10. My neighbour mentioned once that she could hear it when she was in bed so since then I’ve tried not to have them on too late. I live in a mid terrace.

Chocolatewheatos · 18/11/2021 21:42

Semi. Washer us other side of house, never hear theirs so anytime. Have put it on when we go to bed and don't hear it.
Hoover 8pmish unless we had some kind of disaster like broken glass that would take a couple of minutes

ILoveMyMonkey · 18/11/2021 21:45

Terrace - shit walls - neither past 7pm as I would hate to impact the neighbours.

RobinPenguins · 18/11/2021 21:46

I put the washing machine on before I go to bed, but it’s on the side of our house that’s not connected to our neighbour and can’t be heard or felt by them. I wouldn’t hoover upstairs later than my DD’s bedtime at 7pm, downstairs maybe 8pm ish? But I don’t really do that kind of housework in the evening anyway.

PermanentTemporary · 18/11/2021 21:47

Mid terrace. I do put my washing machine on super late /overnight if I have to - i do try not to but sometimes it's unavoidable. Hard floors here so no hoovering.

thefirstmrsrochester · 18/11/2021 21:48

I timer my washing machine to start and be finished it’s cycle by 6am, which is when I get up.

My house is about 200 years old and the utility on the non party side of the house.

I rarely hoover as I don’t have carpets, but if I did, I’d hoover whenever it suited me. Again, the construction of the houses means you can pretty much do what you like with no impact on next door.

JurgensCakeBaby · 18/11/2021 21:49

Whenever but we live in a semi with very thick walls and the only rooms that adjoin are the bathroom and hallway/stairs. We also have a very elderly neighbour who without hearing aids is quite deaf and goes to bed about 8:30

ShoppingBasket · 18/11/2021 21:49

Semi detached. hoover maybe until 930 but kitchen only. Upstairs usually daytime only unless really stuck. I might put washing machine on at 10pm/11pm but it's not at an adjoining wall.

Fomofo · 18/11/2021 21:50

I don't do any house work after a certain time, 7/7.30, and that's just clearing up after dinner

sqirrelfriends · 18/11/2021 21:50

When I lived in a flat I made sure I never started a load that finished after 9:30.

I didn't have kids then and now I put one on whenever but probably wouldn't if attached to neighbours.

DramaAlpaca · 18/11/2021 21:50

Detached, so any time I please.

ChloeCrocodile · 18/11/2021 21:52

Mid terrace but I have considerate neighbours so don't hear too much from them. I make sure noisy things are finished by 10 and never start before 7.

RumJerrySailorRum · 18/11/2021 21:53

Semi, washing whenever I want, it's on an outside wall next to the drive, then it's our neighbours drive, then their house.

Vac, never before 9am as those attached have a baby. And not after 8pm for the same reason. However i always do it during the day. Except for emergencies.

Titsywoo · 18/11/2021 21:55

Semi detached but my washer and dryer are nowhere near the joining wall so often I run them overnight. I've never really fancied hoovering in the late evening or early morning so that hasn't come up Grin

FourTeaFallOut · 18/11/2021 21:56

Detached. Sometimes I set the washing machine so it's finished when I wake up at 6am...so must start about 4:30am. Not sure if that's late or early but it doesn't disturb the neighbours. I don't think I've ever hoovered late at night.

RitaFires · 18/11/2021 21:57

I wouldn't vacuum late, or too early in the morning. I use the washing machine late to take advantage of cheaper electricity but it's an end of terrace house with the utility on the non attached side, so the neighbours don't hear it. I would get a vibration dulling mat if I thought it was disturbing anyone.

riotlady · 18/11/2021 21:57

Terraced house converted into flats. Wouldn’t vacuum or run the dryer past 8pm. The washing machine is in an extension so doesn’t share a wall with anyone and would run that until about 10pm. Can hear my upstairs neighbour snoring at night so sound definitely carries!

ImInStealthMode · 18/11/2021 22:33

Live in a flat. Washing machine I'd never have on after about 9pm as my kitchen is above the bedroom of the flat below. Hoovering probably until about 11pm but it only takes about 4 minutes to Hoover the entire tiny place anyway.

XenoBitch · 18/11/2021 22:34

Mid terrace. I use appliances at 10pm the latest.

PickAChew · 18/11/2021 22:37

Usual cut off is 9, unless there is a major bodily ejection disaster to deal with, as we're in a semi but house next door is currently empty so anything goes.

MrsAvocet · 18/11/2021 22:37

I dont hoover if anyone is in bed but I run the washing machine and the dishwasher overnight. You can't really hear them upstairs and we don't have any close neighbours.
