To wonder what's the latest time you vacuum/run the washing machine?

and what type of home do you live in eg flat or terrace?

I don’t tend to use either late at night but there is no time I wouldn’t use them if need be. Live in a detached house.

In a detached house but in a houseshare - I wouldn't hoover past 9 and around the same with putting a load of washing on so it finishes by 10. When I lived in a studio flat by myself I would put it on literally any time of night or day because the sound didn't bother me and I wasn't attached to anyone else (flat on top of someone's garage).

I'm in an apartment and there's a clause in my lease stating no loud noise including electrical noise after 11 pm and before 7am. So I make sure the machine doesn't spin between those times. I also tend not to hoover after 9pm because although we have good soundproofing it's probably not so nice to have someone hoovering over your head late into the evening. I do sometimes do a quick once over before 8am though, depending on my shifts it sometimes works out that way. My downstairs neighbour has young kids so I know they're all up and about long before then; I probably wouldn't otherwise.

I try hard not to use the dryer at night after about 9pm because the dryer vents exhaust near all the stacked bedroom windows in our 10 story building. Many people do not like the smell of drying laundry.

We are on good terms with our upstairs neighbour but once she slammed her bedroom window when I had something in the dryer at 10 pm. I got the message. And I did have a smelly dryer sheet in the loaf,
