Should the oven door be open when grilling?

I say yes. We specifically didn't buy a particular oven because you had to grill with the door shut. Just feels wrong.

In my previous 2 kitchens it had to be left open, my current, more modern oven requires the door to be closed when the grill function is on. If you don't have the instructions you might find them online if you know the brand name and model.

But my newer modern one says to keep the door closed.

Its a Nope for mine anyway, grill only works door shut.

I always thought gas ones needed to be open but electric ones can be closed. Always worked for me anyway!

Mine says door shut but agree feels wrong I leave it open. Have to keep checking and turning things anyway. Grill works with door open or closed. It also came with handles to attach grill pan which can’t use if door shut so not sure they know either.

Read the manual. Mine needs door shut.

And yes YABU to expect anyone here to know how your oven works unless you tell us which one it is.
