AIBU to expect DH to be discreet about his bodily functions when we stay with friends?

Yes I toot in bed, so does DH, but when he’s in the bathroom at home or when we are staying away, he totally lets rip, adding in accompanying grunts to emphasize how much effort he is putting in. Everyone hears him. It’s unavoidable. Friends, felllow guests and family all comment, not always with a laugh. AIBU to expect him to exert a little discretion (no euphemism intended)?

Ew

riotlady · 16/11/2021 06:41

Farting is sometimes unavoidable on the toilet but grunting is wildly unnecessary

girlmom21 · 16/11/2021 06:55

It's just bloody rude and disrespectful! YANBU.

hotmeatymilk · 16/11/2021 07:11

Vile.

spotcheck · 16/11/2021 07:13

Jesus.
I just, can't even..

How do you summon up enough attraction to shag this disgusting, rude man?

lnsufficientFuns · 16/11/2021 07:13

He’s an oik OP
Sorry.

Sparklingbrook · 16/11/2021 07:13

That's disgusting.

SusannahHolmes · 16/11/2021 07:13

Does he have a possible bowel condition? Lactose intolerance?
If so YBU

Or is he hamming it up?

ldontWanna · 16/11/2021 07:18

Are the noises voluntary or not?

DuckDuckNo · 16/11/2021 07:38

That's grim.

stonebrambleboy · 16/11/2021 07:41

Put the radio on.

sjxoxo · 16/11/2021 07:42

I could not tolerate this even in our own house! Is it made into a joke or do you consider it normal?? I think it’s gross either in your home or away. X

FatOaf · 16/11/2021 07:46

Gather everyone around the bathroom door and applaud him when he emerges. If he's going to put so much effort into his performance he should receive appropriate recognition.

PheasantsNest · 16/11/2021 07:47

Toot?

EnjoyingTheSilence · 16/11/2021 07:49

@PheasantsNest just what I was thinking

thepeopleversuswork · 16/11/2021 08:05

Hard to avoid farting but perfomarive fartimg when you’re not at home is unnecessary.

thepeopleversuswork · 16/11/2021 08:06

Performative. FFS

Helenahandbasketbing · 16/11/2021 08:08

That’s really disgusting. I can’t imagine what your hosts are saying about him behind your backs.

Fomofo · 16/11/2021 08:08

Why do men do this kind of thing

JadeTrinket · 16/11/2021 08:09

Obviously, YANBU, but a lot of people on here seem to find farting hilarious.

BigYellowHat · 16/11/2021 08:16

It’s gross but really, who cares? Get new mates if they’re that bothered 🤷‍♀️

BigYellowHat · 16/11/2021 08:18

Also, when DH does this i say ‘Alexa, play the poo poo song’ Try it, it’s very funny 😂

LowlandLucky · 16/11/2021 08:19

What a child

EdgeOfTheSky · 16/11/2021 08:20

I had an ex who did this and it was unpleasant passive aggression and control. Deliberately farting and making the room unpleasant to be in during a meal or favourite programme, embarrassing me in front of family. Nasty.

And like dogs marking their territory.

Itsnotover · 16/11/2021 08:21

A lot of men seem to behave this way. My most recent ex was in hospital with campylobacter poisoning and he kept sending me texts about his 'gravy poo'. It was pretty unnecessary 😬
