DD is 5 and they are having nursery rhyme week at school, the ones they are featuring are 'Head shoulders, knees and Toes' 'Incy wincy spider', 'Wind the bobbin up', 'down in the Jungle' and 'Sleeping Bunnies'

I've not heard of the last 2, I was born mid 80s and don't remember either of them, I've seen in the Jungle on a cbeebies or something, but I have never heard little bunnies, DD assures me she used to do little bunnies all the time at playgroup which nana took her to. But I've still not actually heard it until I have just looked up a video now and now I am all confused because DD insists it is just bunnies and there should not be frogs , elephants or crocodiles.

I tried Google to find out when and where it is from but I just get presented with different versions of the videos, I'm lost, did this one just pass me by?

Wow blasted back to infant school with down in the jungle, it was my favourite 🙂 I was born in 84 so would have been 88-90 when we sang that. I only heard of the little bunny song when I had my own dc

I first learnt sleeping bunnies at sing and sign when eldest was born 15 years ago and down in the jungle was vaguely familiar when he did it at toddlers.

We definitely always sang wind the bobbin up at every toddler group when I was little so early 80s.

This Little Puffin…. Finger Plays and Nursery Rhymes 1969. My copy is probably 1987 when I started working at Pre-School Playgroup.

I only heard it when I took ds to toddler group, was not from my childhood.

@Maulstick

No bunnies or winding the bobbin up in Ireland in my childhood — I only encountered both at baby groups in England. I suppose ‘Wind the bobbin up’ is a mill song, anyway, and hence not really a thing outside specific areas of Ireland.
I get up with wind the bobbin up - but I’m from the midlands - I think anywhere with a mill history would know it.

Moved down south and no one knew it down here! But they al sang the sleeping bunnies song at baby groups when I had my kids (12 years ago now) and I had never ever heard it before and was also a little freaked out by the possibly sick bunnies all lying deathly still on the floor!

Piss a bed is an old name for a dandelion, isn't it?And butt means barrel.

We sang wind the bobbin up in late 70s/ early 80s Essex, but we only wound it, we didn’t wind it back again - I was surprised by this extra bit when the DC came along.
Most of our nursery rhymes came from this book which I loved

I do remember at nursery school doing an action rhyme about someone getting killed by being hit in the head with an apple and then coming back to life and chasing someone - what was that?! We were all keen to be the chasing ghost.

Oh, I’ve found it - Old Roger is Dead - he wasn’t killed by an apple, they planted an apple tree over his grave and then he kicked an old woman who came to pick the apples and she went hippity hop…
