To hire a night nanny once a week?

Every night is beyond us but I’m desperate for an uninterrupted nights sleep.

Would a night nanny just think us mad / lazy?

That's literally what they do for a job so I doubt they would be judging you.

AtrociousCircumstance · 14/11/2021 21:40

Do it. Find someone immediately! One night of proper sleep a week will keep you functioning.

WheelieBinPrincess · 14/11/2021 21:41

Well no because that’s their profession, why on earth would they feel you were mad for hiring them to do it?

I don’t know if sleep training would be a better first call though.

SW1amp · 14/11/2021 21:42

If you can afford it, do it…

How old is your DC?

Tickly · 14/11/2021 21:44

I would if I could afford it. Sounds blissful.

JurgensCakeBaby · 14/11/2021 21:44

You say US, can your partner not do one night a week?

Pinkfirefly · 14/11/2021 21:44

DC nearly one 😩

inmyslippers · 14/11/2021 21:44

If I could afford one I'd definitely hire one

jemimafuddleduck · 14/11/2021 21:46

Cheaper and easier possibly to sort the sleep issues (without knowing what the problem is of course!). Is sleep training an option?

MotherOfCrocodiles · 14/11/2021 21:47

Sounds like a good idea but will DC accept them? I thought night nannies were more for newborns who don't care who is picking them up in the night

I heard night nannies can sleep train your kids so getting one in for a week to Try and sort sleep could be another option

jemimafuddleduck · 14/11/2021 21:47

(Not judging though, absolutely go for it with the night nanny! Whatever you need to do to rest)

EinsteinaGogo · 14/11/2021 21:48

Absolutely do it if you can.

I think a poster called @blondeshavemorefun used to be a night nanny / maternity nanny.

Maybe post in the childcare board for some
Specific Suggestions?

Chr1stmasCarole · 14/11/2021 21:49

If you can find and afford one then go for it. No different to getting a childminder, cleaner or gardener for example.....it might just be a sanity saver.
I suppose my only question would be, will your dc settle for them and would you be content to just leave them to get on with it?
You could find that you're paying somebody and still waking up yourself, which would be pointless.

stereeotype · 14/11/2021 21:51

Do you have a DH? Can you not take nights in turns if so? Just for one night a week?

Pinkfirefly · 14/11/2021 21:55

No - sleep is too disruptive for one person (when they have to function the next day, I mean)

Tried sleep training and got nowhere, so just looking at other options now.

WheelieBinPrincess · 14/11/2021 21:57

I mean a professional to sleep train, OP.

I mean for one day a week on the weekend perhaps? Instead of a night nurse? Single parents would have to do seven days a week so to rotate one day sounds like the most sensible option IMO
Pinkfirefly · 14/11/2021 21:59

I’m tried and not really following what you mean sorry @stereeotype but no.

OP posts:
Sundancerintherain · 14/11/2021 22:02

Go for it.

Funnylittlefloozie · 14/11/2021 22:04

If you've tried loads of other things and you can afford it, I would say go for it, absolutely!

unicornpower · 14/11/2021 22:05

Sounds amazing! Definitely do it

TheKeatingFive · 14/11/2021 22:06

Do it

Sundancerintherain · 14/11/2021 22:08

We had family help with our non sleeper ( my parents, 24 hours every other week. It saved our sanity.)

nannynick · 14/11/2021 22:09

I've done it in the past. The parents went elsewhere to sleep. Do you have somewhere else you could go? If you are in the house you will still hear, I expect.

Wowzel · 14/11/2021 22:09

I really wanted to do this!
