I had some things delivered today and the delivery guy tried all their doors so left them with OH. He's took in 8 parcels then just gone off to storage unit (where he works)and left me with them. I work from home and can't answer the door unless they come when I'm on a break.

AIBU? Or is he nob. I personally wouldn't of took them in 🤣

I don't understand, you said you had stuff delivered so are they yours or other peoples?

BasementIdeas · 12/11/2021 11:58

Just pop a note on the door saying that you are working from home and will only be answering the door at x times. Not sure what the issue is?

PlanktonsComputerWife · 12/11/2021 12:00

Karma points.

Seriously, you will grateful when someone does it for you.

Sirzy · 12/11/2021 12:01

He did something nice. Just put a note on the door asking people to wait until after 5pm or whatever to knock for them

Teeturtle · 12/11/2021 12:02

You won’t take your neighbours parcels in? Why on earth not? I think you are odd not your husband.

FAQs · 12/11/2021 12:02

Put a note on the door for the time your husband returns for work for pick up Grin

Landof · 12/11/2021 12:03

YABU. It's nice to be neighbourly. Just pop a note on saying to call after X time. Problem solved.

TurnUpTurnip · 12/11/2021 12:04

I don’t take my neighbours parcels in as they never collect them.

Laiste · 12/11/2021 12:11

8 different household's parcels??

I don't mind taking in the occasional one for neighbours (rare these days when it's now the done thing to leave them on the doorsteps) but 8 ?! All the damn things in the hall and having to arrange certain pick up times ....

No, you are NBU to be pee'd off.

Laiste · 12/11/2021 12:13

@TurnUpTurnip

And yeah - i'd guess out of 8 you'll still have .... hmm ... i'm going to say 2 hanging about into next week now.
beigebrownblue · 12/11/2021 12:16

I used to do this, being at home a lot where I lived previously.

Sadly though, I realised no one did it for me, and i was left hanging about for days chasing it up.

So I don't do it anymore.

Djifunrsn · 12/11/2021 12:32

Note on door: had 8 parcels delivered for various people today but am on conference calls 12-5, please collect parcels between 7-8pm if possible.

MaggieFS · 12/11/2021 12:39

Yep, note on the door. You're doing them a favour by looking after the parcels, hopefully they will respect your notice.

He did something nice... Then left for work and left the OP to deal with it!
fuckyourpronouns · 12/11/2021 12:43

YABU. Your husband did a nice thing. No one has told you that you need to deliver these parcels yourself or even be available to answer the door at a particular time.

Majority of people will expect to come after they've finished work. Just open the door when you've finished for the day.

No need to make it into a big deal

LolaSmiles · 12/11/2021 12:46

YABU
He did something nice. If the door goes when you're in a call then do answer it. Neighbours will call back later.

Or you could put a note on the door saying you're in calls til 5pm.

It doesn't need to be a big deal.

This! Your H has made the delivery guy's day much easier, that's a nice thing!
MrsMiddleMother · 12/11/2021 12:51

Yanbu. Accepting a parcel or 2 for next door is nice, 8 parcels for however many households is a joke.

Fatgalslim · 12/11/2021 12:54

@Teeturtle

But now OP is going to have constant knocks on the door when she's working yet her DP can fuck off merrily to work and not have to deal with it.

Just ignore the door OP, he can play postman when he comes home

SunshineCake1 · 12/11/2021 12:54

Why wouldn't you have taken them in?
Put the note on the door. Drama over nothing.

gonetothecleaners · 12/11/2021 12:57

I don't mind taking 1 or two in but we're going to have people knocking all day now gives me anxiety!

OP posts:
mrsm43s · 12/11/2021 12:58

8 is a bit much, but just pop a note on the door saying you can't be disturbed til 5, and then drop them round (or get your DH to) to the various neighbours after work. It's no big deal is it?

mrsm43s · 12/11/2021 12:59

Not if you put a note on the door, you won't.
HaroldSteptoesHorse · 12/11/2021 12:59

Why does WFH mean you can’t answer her door?
