And just doesn’t get on with them at all

Don’t dislike them at all, but have very little to do with them and can go months without speaking to them. One of them I’ve probably not spoken to for almost a year.

Thehop · 08/11/2021 22:11

I’ve had to go nc with my brother. I absolutely despise him. Feeing is mutual. He’s a bad person.

I love my half brothers very much, and see them regularly. Just my full brother I hope to never see again.

This. It’s not that we don’t get on we just are very different people which is exacerbated by huge age gaps
houserenohelp · 08/11/2021 22:18

Yes my siblings and me just very different and don't seem to have much concept of anyone else but themselves. Very selfish and drive me insane.
I don't see them much except family occasions etc but makes me dislike visiting my parents which is really upsetting I just feel so uncomfortable

PurpleDaisy2114 · 08/11/2021 22:22

I don't like who my Sister is at all. Panders to my narc mother and can just about tolerate my dc. She was unkind to me when we were small and we have always been distant.

ssd · 08/11/2021 22:24

Me

MySisterTotallyIs · 08/11/2021 22:25

Loathe and despise one

Love the other to pieces.

ssd · 08/11/2021 22:25

I have been very very low contact with my siblings for over 10 years but they didn't notice

StoneofDestiny · 08/11/2021 22:26

Get on with them all - and they are all very different.

Loveatortie · 08/11/2021 22:29

I don't like my brother, but love him in a way. He annoys the hell out of me,he is my brother

AnnieSnap · 08/11/2021 22:29

I avoid my older brother like the plague. I haven’t had any meaningful contact with him for 30 years. He is a truly horrible human being. Racist, sexist and a nasty bully.

Totally, he comes across as a total dick. We are only a few years apart in age, but I sometimes wonder whether we had the same upbringing. I guess he had the advantage being the youngest. I'm not envious of his life at all, it's very empty, but I could of done better too, our parents were very dysfunctional.
galacticpixels · 08/11/2021 22:32

I get on okay with my brother. We definitely get on better since he had children and I'm really close to his kids.

My sister and I never talk to be honest.... We see each other maybe twice a year max if we happen to be home at the same time. Our mother keeps us up to date on each other's lives. She's not a bad person, we are just very very different people with nothing in common.

I care about them both.

JackieWeaverHandforthCouncil · 08/11/2021 22:33

DB1 is a violent narc who almost split up my parents marriage. Ours wasn’t a happy home due to his behaviour. He has been thrown out of every school he’s attended and can’t hold down a job as he always ends up in a row with his boss or coworkers.

I became friends with one of his girlfriends and successfully encouraged her to leave him after she said he’d started emotionally abusing her. Any woman who gets too close to him is an unlucky woman. He has so many red flags you can barely see him through them. After about 5 mins the conspiracy theories start so I’d be surprised if he wasn’t single.

He moved back in with DPs after losing latest job and he treats them like dirt.

I haven’t spoken to him in years. He doesn’t even know where me or DB2 live as we know if he’s short of money or feels a grievance he’ll be at our doors ranting, raving and harassing.

My experience is why I tell people never to have a second child believing they will be a guaranteed BFF for the first. There are 16 months between DB1 and I. He started hitting and verbally abusing me from as soon as he could and he never changed despite DPs desperately believing he’d ‘grow out’ of it.

PinkiOcelot · 08/11/2021 22:33

I was very close to one of my sisters. I looked on her as my best friend. She could be really nasty though and if you didn’t agree with her she’d kick off and shout over you. It was always me who picked up the phone.
Well a few weeks ago she’s been a total bitch once too often. I’m done. No more. NC from now on.

TerribleZebra · 08/11/2021 22:41

NC with one brother after years of putting up with his awful behaviour. I used to be really close to him until I realised he was only nice to me if there was something in it for him. Other brother is hard work and I don't see him very often. We had a difficult upbringing due to my narcissistic dad and I think it's pretty common for siblings to give up on each other as adults.

LadyCatStark · 08/11/2021 22:47

My sister and youngest brother are the most awesome people. My older (but still younger than me) brother is almost certainly autistic although he doesn’t have a diagnosis as far as I know and he is hard to get along with as he hardly speaks or makes eye contact or understands social cues. He can only speak about things that interest him so you have to ask him lots of questions. I have no bad feelings about him though.

My DH and his sister hate each other. She hates that he is career focussed rather than family and he hates that she has been on benefits for the past 13 years yet always seems to be able to afford nicer things than us. I doubt they’ll ever speak again TBH.

Notagoodmonth · 08/11/2021 22:47

Loved one, can't tolerate the other two at all, they have made my life an absolute misery.

lydia2021 · 08/11/2021 22:54

Yes, I have always trusted people until proved wrong. One is a narcisist sorry if spelt that wrong. Another feels wronged All the time. Another is a fantasist.. and likes to look in a mirror turning head side to side to see if her beauty is there. Another is a great mother, but lives a sad, unhappy life. Personally, I would rather talk to frogs, and hedgehogs in the garden. Got lovely neighbours, and I wont tolerate being abused by my siblings.

SmellyNelliey · 08/11/2021 22:57

Hate my sister been NC for 2 years, one brother I can only put up with him for so long before he really starts to annoy me with his childish behaviour, my other DB is still only a child his self and I love him and adore him like he's one of my own children he's a fabulous child to be around.

BudgeSquare · 08/11/2021 22:57

I have two and hate them both in different and entirely justified ways

Libertaire · 08/11/2021 22:59

I don’t dislike my brother. He’s a good guy with a lovely family, and on the infrequent occasions we see one another, we get on OK.

But… the reality is that we are very different people with very different lives, very different levels of education and very different values. We grew up in a grotty little town which I couldn’t wait to get out of. I left to go to university in the big city and I never really went back. He never left. We now have so little in common that, realistically, if we were not related we would not be friends.

SickAndTiredAgain · 08/11/2021 23:00

I don’t really like either of my sisters. I don’t actively dislike them, we just have nothing in common. We never speak, again not through a big “I’m never talking to you again!” fight, I just can’t imagine texting them for a chat. I see them at our parents’ house at Christmas and we’re perfectly pleasant.
If we weren’t sisters, and knew each other some other way, like colleagues, we wouldn’t be friends.

HelplesslyHoping · 08/11/2021 23:07

I had 3 siblings, 2 died before I was 14 and I avoid my living sister as much as possible. We were close as children but now she has a child and is a terrible parent (mad vegan 'influencer') Wish it was different but it's not.

Thursa · 08/11/2021 23:14

I don’t dislike them but I have nothing in common with them. We haven’t been in the same country in years, so we have little to do with each other.
