Do those of you in US have a secret family spice mix for pumpkin pie handed down the generations, like my American friend over here?

Google the Libby's Pumpkin Pie recipe. I'll bet that 95% of the 'family secret' recipes in the US are the actually the Libby's recipe, whether the family realizes it or not. That recipe has been around since the 1920s so I'm sure it's been passed down as 'Granny's secret recipe' for generations, ever since Granny herself first passed it off as 'her own'.

My own family has used that recipe for at least 4 generations.

Just be sure you use 'plain' pumpkin puree and not the pumpkin pie filling (which is pre-seasoned).
