Ah snap lionheart, just reading the same

edition.cnn.com/2021/12/21/politics/michael-flynn-lawsuit-january-6-committee/index.html

He can run but he cannot hide.

lionheart · 22/12/2021 17:55

He sounds a bit more unhinged recently.

www.thedailybeast.com/the-obscure-charge-jan-6-investigators-are-looking-at-for-donald-trump?source=articles&via=rss

'As federal prosecutors increasingly use an obscure criminal charge to jail Jan. 6 insurrectionists, congressional investigators seem to be building a case that could result in that same charge against former President Donald Trump.

A third of the 700 people arrested by the Justice Department for attacking the U.S. Capitol building have been hit with a peculiar federal “witness tampering” law, according to researchers at George Washington University’s Program on Extremism. Those 240 insurrectionists have been charged with corruptly obstructing an official proceeding, a never-before-seen tactic by prosecutors for an equally unprecedented event.'

www.rawstory.com/boebert-christmas/ has some interesting stuff to say about the church reaction to evangelical facism, but it also mentions that the nutcase Massie said "I crossed guns with family and Christmas, and those are three things that really could trigger the leftists".

Now, guns being something that what he calls "leftists" get upset about I can understand, but why does he assume that these people would also be triggered by family and Christmas? Does he really think that eg Democrats such as President Biden, devoted to their family and members of the Roman Catholic church, find family or Christmas upsetting ideas? This is a very strange misapprehension; one might almost say it must be deliberate incomprehension.

Merry Christmas everyone Xmas Smile🎄

AcrossthePond55 · 24/12/2021 19:27

Massie is a real dumb-ass.

Guns don't 'trigger "leftists"'. People who USE guns inappropriately 'trigger "leftists"'. It's just that most people who 'use' (ie wave about, threaten with, take pics meant to 'incite' with, bellow about 'rights', vigilantism) are "rightists".

Guns have a 'place' in a Democracy. Hunting, skeet shooting, shooting competitions, country folk keeping down predators & vermin, even for self-defense are all valid reasons to own a gun. What IS needed is better laws to regulate legal types of guns, gun ownership & registration, a national database, and more enforcement of the laws we already have.

Merry Christmas to you and all, as well.

It has occurred to me that perhaps the reason the Republicans seem to be hell-bent on destroying Democracy is that they have misunderstood slightly and think that democracy is the prerogative of the Democratic Party. They want a Republic instead -- probably the sort with a dictator.

lionheart · 26/12/2021 21:41

It seems so.

Hope everyone had a wonderful joyful Xmas (and Boxing Day).

Wanted to let all know that we got the results of DH's PET scan and the doctor said the results "are as good as they could possibly be" so the treatment is considered successful. He won't be ruled 'cancer free' for 5 years but we're 'taking what we can get' and running with it!

lionheart · 27/12/2021 13:30

That is really good news Across.

Hope you have had lovely Christmas and will have a restful New Year.

@AcrossthePond55 So glad to hear about your DH, looking hopeful and hope it's onwards and upwards for him, and you of course.

Happy Christmas to you too, we've had a lovely family time so far and it's still continuing.

Also, this: www.salon.com/2021/12/26/de-blasio-sets-vaccine-precedent-in-new-york-will-california-follow_partner/

"This politicization has led to dramatic divides in vaccination rates. In October, the tenth of the country that skewed the reddest in the last election experienced COVID death rates that were six times higher than those of the bluest tenth, with much of the difference attributed to vastly lower vaccination rates in the reddest areas."

It's what I have been muttering about for a while: that the Republicans are reducing their vote by their own pigheaded stubbornness.

The Navarro is extraordinary.

A small distraction.
