Very odd.

Rep. Madison Cawthorn and ye old 'earthen vessels' (women, to the rest of us).

I don't think I have seen a Polaroid camera for maybe forty years. Have they made a come-back?

Roussette · 04/12/2021 17:22

Heck... that earthen vessel rambling made me feel a bit sick.

Fuck him, the horse he rode in on, and the stable he keeps it at. I'd like to aim an 'earthen vessel' at his ignorant head.

@AskingQuestionsAllTheTime Polaroids are making a bit of a 'faddy come back'. No idea why, they always took pretty shitty photos.

Yeah, they were found hiding in a warehouse on a 911 tip.

So much for 'moved location for safety reasons'.

That made me laugh.
Ditto. And I'd finish it off with a wet kipper round his chops.

I have a feeling you used not to be able to tear them up very easily, either; weren't they some sort of funny plastic stuff instead of paper?

purplesequins · 04/12/2021 20:05

I always wonder how paternal alimony rules (which can be quite drastic in the us) and surrogacy (with contracts stipulating abortion if the commissioning parties want the woman to) square up with the proposed reduction of abortion rights?

They were a cardboardy paper but it had a plastic-y coated sort of heavy paper 'frame' that was impossible to tear.

I used to have the 'Swinger' polaroid back in the day. Cheaper version of the 'Land Camera'.

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 04/12/2021 21:42

So even if they were a fantastic sunset picture in the making that was needed for a slightly weird and irrelevant analogy, tearing them up might be a problem. OK. Thanks.

Polaroids require ritualistic funeral pyres if you want to destroy them.

ETC.,

www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/entry/trump-truth-social-billion-dollar-commitment-secret-investors_n_61ac3552e4b044a1cc243db7

'Donald Trump’s new social media venture announced Saturday it has won a commitment for $1 billion from an unidentified “diverse group of institutional investors” — even though his operation missed a partial launch deadline last month.

Trump’s “Truth Social” media venture was supposed to launch an invitation-only “beta” test version of the social media site last week, but it didn’t happen. It still only exists as a largely promotional website (with a waiting list) six weeks after Trump announced the venture.'

Cawthorne didn't even say the word "women" in that. Even "God's breath of life was blown away by the breath of man," though perhaps he meant mankind, or perhaps not.

www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2021/dec/04/supreme-court-abortion-pro-natalism-policies

'Looks like those “hysterical” women were right after all. For the past few years anyone worried that civil rights in America would be gutted by a right-leaning supreme court has been dismissed as a fearmonger. The supreme court was above partisan politics, we were told. Upstanding “carpool dad” Brett Kavanaugh had no interest in reversing Roe v Wade, we were told. The fact that People of Praise, the Christian community where Amy Coney Barrett previously served as a “handmaid” (their term for a female leader) was virulently anti-abortion and would expel members for gay sex wouldn’t affect her decisions on the supreme court, we were told.'

"The Daily Mail said it found the emails on Hunter Biden's abandoned laptop, which was the subject of intense controversy before the 2020 presidential election."

I wonder how they got hold of it, and when. Also why they were allowed to have it.

lionheart · 06/12/2021 15:33

How strange.

This is a good thing though, with the bonus of featuring Joni Mitchell. Smile
