Would you feel uncomfortable if you were this woman?

For those that can’t see the video.

Woman comes out of Victoria’s Secret to a load of rowdy football fans obviously interested in what’s she’s bought.

After some encouragement she pulls her purchase out of the bag & the response is a huge cheer.

It just looked very intimidating, almost like she had no choice but to play along and show them or else it might not have been such a friendly crowd to walk through. AIBU in feeling she didn’t really have a choice? Maybe it’s just my life experiences that made me feel really uncomfortable for her. The comments on the video are all pretty positive which really surprised me.

Men are gross.

link wants me to either join tik tok or log in to my account with tik tok. I don't wish to do either, I'm having enough trouble with all the other social media platforms that I'd love to delete out of my life if they weren't so important for advertising my business.

Good to know.
MamaRaisingBoys · 23/10/2021 21:58

Looks to me like she’s happy to play along, but who knows 🤷🏻‍♀️

Fucking weird that they want to stand and cheer over a random woman’s lingerie purchase though

Kinneddar · 23/10/2021 21:59

Its weird as hell that such a large crowd are all there however I dont think she was intimated at all or forced to open her bag. She's holding the bag up in the air as she walks out the shop, playing to the crowd

OuchWhatWasThat · 23/10/2021 22:02

Some pathetic pick-me.

Amymamabear89 · 23/10/2021 22:16

She did seem okay with it but at the same time it could of been uncertainty or it being unexpected and yeah probably uncomfortable it may seem the… safer/easier option, no one (women/men/anyone!) shouldn’t be made to feel like like they have to play along unless they want to

3scape · 23/10/2021 22:16

That was weird the way she held it up. Are we sure she didn't make a thing about going in there first? I've no idea of course but I'm not sure I'd even leave any shop if there was a crowd of drunken loutish men like that. I won't go to our local supermarket BEFORE football matches start and they're not even drunk because the behaviour is so full on. I feel like she felt safe with them, maybe she's a fan who had a quick purchase, there with the group that look in her bag?

Sofiegiraffe · 23/10/2021 22:17

If all looks a bit staged to me, she was already holding the bag up as she comes out Confused
Definitely didn't get the vibe that she was remotely uncomfortable.

LadyTiredWinterBottom2 · 23/10/2021 22:19

Nah she could have stuck her finger up and walked on by. Haven't watched the video, don't have twittok

Sofiegiraffe · 23/10/2021 22:19

And to answer your question: yes I would feel uncomfortable; but no, I wouldn't remove the item from the bag, I'd just head down and keep walking.

Sofiegiraffe · 23/10/2021 22:21

I don't have tiktok either but OP's link worked for me ...

Oh4Tunas · 23/10/2021 22:24

I probably wouldn't have liked that, but she didn't seem bothered at all.

Is this a thing? I've never seen anything like this before! It looks like they were all gathered round waiting for the next person to come out of that particular shop. Odd.

YesIReallyDoLikeRootBeer · 23/10/2021 22:38

Looked like this was something that was planned. She came out holding the bag in the air like "I got it!" and then happily pulled it out and showed it. Not everything in life is something sinister.

gofg · 23/10/2021 22:40

She didn't seem at all bothered, and I don't think I would have been either. She certainly didn't appear shocked to see them and I agree the way she held the bag up as soon as she opened the door made it seem as though it wasn't unexpected. It was just a crowd of football fans, not an angry mob. I've spent years watching rugby matches on terraces (in a rugby country) and it's all just good fun.

Yes I got this impression too.

TakeYourFinalPosition · 23/10/2021 22:55

Seconding everyone who says this looks really planned. I don’t think she’s a random woman who bought something… I’d put money on it being the second part of something; or that she “knew” them, went in to get something specific and came out with it. She’s already waving the bag around and getting ready to show them before she’s left the shop.

I’m glad it’s not someone who seems really distressed, because the OP sounds like quite an uncomfortable situation… but I don’t think that’s the case here.

LibrariesGiveUsPower45321 · 23/10/2021 23:06

Looks planned to me.

SatsumaPumpkinFace · 23/10/2021 23:07

Well your OP is totally wrong because that isn't what happens at all!

'After some encouragement'? No, as soon as she comes out she holds the bag up and jiggles it around almost like they were waiting for her/knew her.

'It looks very intimidating', again no, she looks like she's enjoying playing to the crowd, she even waves it around her head after she gets it out the bag.

Hmm

I have only ever seen Victoria's secret shops in the USA - where was this -staged- filmed?

I would have been massively bothered though. Maybe she was part of it in which case fine. Maybe she'd seen them do it to other women so she knew what to expect. If it were me, that would put me off going in the shop at all though. To them it might be all in good fun, but their fun doesn't give them the right to make me feel uncomfortable.
abw94 · 23/10/2021 23:17

She looks more than happy to share.

Also the men look in high spirits so doubt they'd turn on her if she didn't want to.

sst1234 · 23/10/2021 23:20

It’s a publicity stunt. Let’s not get carried away with looking for harassment where there isn’t any.

I agree - the description in the OP doesn't match what happens in the video ...

ANameChangeAgain · 23/10/2021 23:21

I've seen women look intimidated in a crowd before, and this certainly isn't one of them! I would haven been uncomfortable, but good on her, she wasn't bothered and joined in with the joke.
