For those that can’t see the video.

Woman comes out of Victoria’s Secret to a load of rowdy football fans obviously interested in what’s she’s bought.

After some encouragement she pulls her purchase out of the bag & the response is a huge cheer.

It just looked very intimidating, almost like she had no choice but to play along and show them or else it might not have been such a friendly crowd to walk through. AIBU in feeling she didn’t really have a choice? Maybe it’s just my life experiences that made me feel really uncomfortable for her. The comments on the video are all pretty positive which really surprised me.

Yes, you are. She most definitely had a choice.

DingDongDenny · 23/10/2021 23:28

That would have absolutely terrified me, all those men staring and cheering at me. Maybe it that particular woman was okay with it, but the men could't have known that. It felt like their behavoiur was very predatory

ASeriesOfTubes · 23/10/2021 23:29

@OuchWhatWasThat

Men are gross.
The words "generalisation" and "sweeping" spring to mind.

I have only ever seen Victoria's secret shops in the USA - where was this -staged- filmed?

Where have you been living the past 20 off years? There are loads of VS branches in the UK
RussianSpy101 · 23/10/2021 23:32

They’re on a road full of pubs known for football fans. They weren’t specifically all there for this woman or this shop.

She seemed fine to me.

RaisedByPangolins · 23/10/2021 23:45

Urgh god it wasn’t even cheering it was more like baying! That would have been horrendous for me, but she seemed ok about it. I guess if she decided to go lingerie shopping while there were hoards of drunk men outside the shop she was kind of expecting it - and the fact that it was being videoed suggests she wasn’t the only one they did this too and explains why she walked out with the bag held aloft. Pretty grim all round but because it’s all “good natured” anyone objecting is obviously a humourless prude. Hmm

louleey · 23/10/2021 23:48

Nothing about that video looks natural, it looks staged

Bettybantz · 23/10/2021 23:52

Well that crowd didn’t come from nowhere.

Personally, I’d feel very uncomfortable but she doesn’t seem to. She went in knowing there was a bunch of rowdy men outside, and came out waving the bag.

I think anyone really uncomfortable wouldn’t have done that. Doesn’t make it ok for a woman to be made to feel uncomfortable about going shopping but I do t think that’s what happened here.

DukeofEarlGrey · 24/10/2021 00:32

I’m torn. Obviously she knew they were there but that doesn’t mean it was staged. I think they are all drinking on match day and cheering the VS shoppers because they happen to be there. She no doubt saw this on her way into the shop and knew she would have to face it on the way out. Presumably it was happening to any woman who went in there and I think she’s trying to show she is game. My read is that this particular woman is ok with it but I’m not sure that if she wasn’t she’d have much choice other than to play along or risk getting bayed at even more. And I definitely don’t think that any woman should be moderating when / where she goes shopping because of pissed men.

Kanaloa · 24/10/2021 01:35

Well it’s obviously staged specifically for attention, as most social media videos are. Presumably if she was extremely uncomfortable she could have either not gone into the shop or informed the staff who could have called security/the police, but honestly it looks like she was aware of this crowd and wanted to play it out as it happened.

There is definitely an issue in my area with behaviour around football games and men being gross and aggressive that needs to be dealt with, but this doesn’t look like it.

gofg · 24/10/2021 01:37

To them it might be all in good fun, but their fun doesn't give them the right to make me feel uncomfortable.

That's fair enough, but surely if it was going to bother you then you wouldn't be there in the first place? They weren't doing anything wrong and there was no suggestion they were there to make anyone feel uncomfortable. As I said, there seems to be an unnatural fear of men on MN.

Marvellousmadness · 24/10/2021 07:38

I think you should rewatch the video op...

StarfishDish · 24/10/2021 07:47

The video doesn't match your post... She doesn't look uncomfortable in the slightest!

Lanique · 24/10/2021 07:51

99.9% of everything on TikTok is fake staged.

LittleAurora · 24/10/2021 08:00

To start I'm Northern Irish.

These are Irish people and they do have a different sense of humour. I for one thought it was funny and it seemed so did the the lady. She had no need to take her knickers out and swing then arround but she played to the crowd

Offmyfence · 24/10/2021 08:01

@OuchWhatWasThat

Men are gross.
Some men are gross
OverweightPidgeon · 24/10/2021 08:08

It looks staged to me too , why would someone be filming the door to the shop if they weren’t expecting this to happen ?

Littlecaf · 24/10/2021 08:10

It’s staged. The more you click / watch it, the more it encourages this type of thing to be a thing.

magicstars · 24/10/2021 08:12

She seems fine with it IMHO.
Probably staged as pp say; many would hate that level of attention. I hope they didn't do that to everyone who left the shop.
She took the knickers out & showed them off, whilst smiling. It's up to her if she's ok with that.

Offmyfence · 24/10/2021 08:14

I'd be uncomfortable but she isn't! I wish I could be more like her!

Djifunrsn · 24/10/2021 09:15

Staged.

SheWoreYellow · 24/10/2021 09:19

I think everyone going into that shop knew that they’d be under pressure to show what they bought as they come out.

AssemblySquare · 24/10/2021 09:20

That is so obviously staged… so convenient that it was being filmed from exactly the right angle, she knew exactly where to look, and they were all positioned just right.

Ponoka7 · 24/10/2021 09:26

It was staged. Other women were walking out of the doors at the side, to be Ignored and don't look intimidated. The Staff don't seem to be concerned.
She didn't share her purchase after encouragement, she walked out waving it in the air and willingly showed it to the crowd.

Sofiegiraffe · 24/10/2021 09:50

@SheWoreYellow

I think everyone going into that shop knew that they’d be under pressure to show what they bought as they come out.

Eh? I wouldn't have felt under any pressure to remove my new underwear from my bag and wave it in the air. Confused
