Are they molluscum contagiosum?

ColdToesMustBeOctober · 18/10/2021 19:08

If they are, they r a right pain to get rid of! :(

Firstbornunicorn · 18/10/2021 19:09

Bites?

FatCatThinCat · 18/10/2021 19:09

Looks like molluscum contagiosum

Bites or pox

hangrylady · 18/10/2021 19:10

They're molloscum. Very common and will go away on their own. My DD had them and I tried every treatment going as they were on her forehead, they disappeared almost overnight in the end.

Rubyupbeat · 18/10/2021 19:11

@FatCatThinCat
Gosh yes, they look the same. Never heard of it!

I'd never heard of it until DS got them last year.

Sofia72 · 18/10/2021 19:15

Look exactly like kids molluscum. The dot at the centre of each spot is the giveaway. They are an absolute bugger to get rid of. Lasted almost 2 years on one of my DD and slightly less on the other. Harmless but depending on location not very pleasant. Loads of threads on here if you do a search about treatments. They do eventually just flare right up and then disappear overnight.

Redskyatmorn · 18/10/2021 19:26

They’re just appearing everywhere! What causes them etc?
We live in a place where there are still mosquitos, but they don’t look like my mozzie bites at all!

OP posts:
Redskyatmorn · 18/10/2021 19:29

They don’t look like the picture on the molluscum pic though? Do they?
How would he have got them?
They have been appearing all over his legs, ankles, stomach, side etc over the last few days, so so many. We couldn’t work it out as none of the rest of us have that many mozzie bites

Hives?

FatCatThinCat · 18/10/2021 19:33

If it is molluscum then it's a virus usually caught by coming into contact with someone else with it. The telltale sign of molluscum spots is the 'hole' in the middle.

Ohsugarhoneyicetea · 18/10/2021 19:34

If they have all appeared quite suddenly I would say they are hives, an allergic reaction to something - do they turn white when pressed? I get them from tomato's and strawberries. Mine look like that, come up like mosquito bites, then go hard, they are extremely itchy and form a small blister in the centre. My child had molluscum and it wasn't itchy and they appeared slowly not all at once.

DontBiteTheBoobThatFeedsYou · 18/10/2021 19:36

They don't look like hives, they look like they have a point in the middle as though it's a bite.

Weird!

DeepaBeesKit · 18/10/2021 19:40

It doesnt look like molloscum to me.

Molloscum is like flesh coloured bumps that look like they have a white head deep inside. The head eventually comes out leaving a hole.they arent usually itchy and you dont get covered in them so suddenly.

Redskyatmorn · 18/10/2021 19:42

@Ohsugarhoneyicetea Yes, they came up largely at the same time. Very itchy and then they go harder and red. At first I could feel so many hard lumps under his legs aswell as the main red ones that could be seen? So odd

Redskyatmorn · 18/10/2021 19:43

We can’t figure out what they are, if it’s bites, we’ve all been sat together at the same time downstairs and don’t get how he could get so many, so quickly 🤷🏻‍♀️

OP posts:
Redskyatmorn · 18/10/2021 19:44

@LIZS Where do they come from, why?

OP posts:
sparepantsandtoothbrush · 18/10/2021 19:45

They're not molloscum. Molloscum aren't itchy

sparepantsandtoothbrush · 18/10/2021 19:47

Bed bugs?

Redskyatmorn · 18/10/2021 19:48

@sparepantsandtoothbrush None of us have them though?
