6 year old loves watching Bluey!

Dd is 6 and has recently loved watching a programme called Bluey in Disney plus. But she says that her friends say it's for younger children and they don't watch it and make her feel about it.

Maybe it is aimed at pre schoolers but aibu to think 6 year olds are good to watch too?

Bluey is 6 years old herself and her younger sister is 4. I think it's good for a 6 year old

Marvellousmadness · 17/10/2021 15:46

Bluey is definitely more for a 4yo !! HOWEVER if she likes it and want to watch it :why wouldn't she :)
I can imagine her friends laughing at the situation though but if she likes it tell to just tell her friends to leave her be and each to their own!

IWantT0BreakFree · 17/10/2021 15:50

Our school sent this out too, but I reckon kids are just HEARING about squid game as it's on the front page of Netflix and all of tiktok.

Sadly not 😔 Some of them are quite open with staff about having watched it. I'm talking KS1 kids. I guess they don't see any reason to hide it because they've been allowed to watch it so they haven't done anything wrong.

I was scrolling for something to watch on Disney+ a few weeks ago and ended up watching episodes of Bluey for an hour. I’m 36 years old and it was the most I’ve laughed in ages.

Thank you everyone 💕

My 6 year old live Bluey.. its fine, stop worrying

MrsDeaconClaybourne · 17/10/2021 15:59

I hate this kind of thing. I taught some Year 6s who were giving one of them a hard time for still playing fortnite! Shock

We've had Covid in the last month and DD11 and I have both really enjoyed watching Topsy and Tim on the iplayer as it was her favourite when she was little.

riotlady · 17/10/2021 15:59

I flipping love Bluey, it’s really warm hearted and funny. As others have said, Bluey herself is 6 and Bingo is 4 so that implies 3-7ish is the targeted age range to me

MikeWozniaksMohawk · 17/10/2021 16:00

My 6yo watches it, as does my 2yo. It’s amazing.

PaleGreenGhost · 17/10/2021 16:02

My 11 year old loves Bluey! As do I and my partner.

GrandDuchessRomanov · 17/10/2021 16:02

Currently sat here watching a DVD of Bear in the Big Blue house.

I'm 51.

Age is just a number.

GrandDuchessRomanov · 17/10/2021 16:06

Also meant to say that DS is in the room with me and is also having a crafty watch whilst supposedly looking at youtube on his phone.

He is 16!

vampirethriller · 17/10/2021 16:07

I'm 40 and love Bluey!

Wow! That triggered a memory. My younger brother was obsessed with bear in the big blue house - i quite liked it too. Don't think my toe have ever watched it 🤯

My seven year old loves to watch it with his four year old brother, my 12 year old niece watches it with us too and quite enjoys it.

thewhatsit · 17/10/2021 16:22

I don’t really get Bluey or what makes it funny and my kids are not bothered with it (hard hat on - but I find Peppa Pig much easier to watch!) but aghhh … I HATE that this is a thing, that there seems to be a competition for children to grow up ever faster. I WANT my children playing with toys, watching kids TV shows and being young and silly for as long as possible. I want to put off the age where they sit on consoles gaming as long as possible because that sounds awful.

TiredSloth · 17/10/2021 16:34

@Marvellousmadness That’s your opinion but I think the rest of this thread has shown that it can be enjoyed by all ages! My 7 year old loves it along with her 4 year old brother. Bluey herself is 6 so I would definitely say that 6 is in the intended target audience! I love it and I’m 35.

ballsdeep · 17/10/2021 16:37

You'd be REALLY surprised then at the sheer amount of 8,9 and 10 year olds playing squid games on the yard

Atla · 17/10/2021 16:44

Re Squid Game, my dc were mithering about downloading Roblox, so I went online to investigate -the very first thing that popped up was a squid game Roblox world, complete with 'red light , green light' and characters getting shot. So I'm positive young kids are getting exposed to it that way.

I am the worst in the world now because I nixed Roblox - hard no from me. I can't imagine primary kids sitting through Squid Game in its entirety - lots of exposition and talky bits, subtitles etc. I'd say more likely to be clips via you tube and tiktok.

orangejuicer · 17/10/2021 16:46

@Chiwi

My 2 year old couldn't give a fuck about bluey but we still watch it because I love it. "We love bluey don't we darling" "No mummy" 😳😂
Same here Grin
BeingATwatItsABingThing · 17/10/2021 16:46

My 7yo DD1 got the rest of us into Bluey. My sister and her partner now both watch it and DH and I love it too. It’s the only children’s programme I can stand.

Hemingwayscats · 17/10/2021 16:47

I think my 9 year old secretly enjoys it when my toddlers watch it. It’s a great programme, nothing to be embarrassed about and 6 is still very young.

Jemimapuddleduk · 17/10/2021 16:48

My 8 year old still loves bluey. She finds it really comforting.

DeadButDelicious · 17/10/2021 16:59

I'm 39 and I love Bluey 😂😂😂. The grannies crack me up 😂😂

bangonthedoorgroovychick · 17/10/2021 17:06

DDs are 2 and 5 and live bluey, I've got my eldest the bluey house and figures for her birthday.

I LOVE bluey too! I think it's amazing Grin
