To think celebrities seriously need to get over themselves?

Just got an email from a recruitment agency I signed up to years ago, they were listing a load of jobs they had available and one of them was:

"£60k - Nanny for Celebrity family - required qualified nanny with experience of young children and newborn, ideally has experience with celebrities so doesn't get starstruck"

I mean seriously, puke. Get over yourselves!

😂 YANBU. Nobodies going to be star struck by a Z list celeb that had to go on I'm a celeb to make a few pennies. Even a A lister. They're just normal people who have money at the end of the day. We don't live in the 50s anymore.

To be honest, celebrities who really are so, don’t need to say they’re celebrities! And they certainly wouldn’t be using an agency, most likely their personal assistant would sort this kind of thing out for them.

On the other hand, I work with very famous people in my field regularly. Just yesterday someone had to be kicked out in the middle of a show because he was so starstruck with the celebrity (an actual real one that everyone would recognise) that was present. He wouldn’t let the poor person walk to the door without harassing them for an autograph. So yeah, there’s plenty of people who wouldn’t cope with meeting a celebrity I’d say 😂

Those people are crazy 🤣 I can't imagine getting like that seeing anybody

Well their PA could’ve placed the ad, but you’d think they would weed out potential star struck candidates at a later stage. It’s probably backfired though in that fans and wannabes might be more likely to apply!

DivorceAdvicePlease123 · 15/10/2021 10:29

Bet it's some wanker from TOWIE 🤣

Keke94LND · 15/10/2021 10:31

I'd love to know who it is and whether Iv actually even heard of them lol they've put the postcode as SE19 which is Crystal
Palace

Are you qualified enough to go for the job and have some spare time to do it? I’d apply out of curiosity but then that’s a bit stalkerish isn’t it Grin

🤣 I'm not I'm afraid, thankfully though, I couldn't think of anything worse!

I bet it’s some Z-lister who would rush to attend the opening of a bag of crisps.

Karwomannghia · 15/10/2021 10:58

To be fair they can’t be doing too badly if they can afford a £60k nanny!
Just trying to think of celebrity families with newborn and young children… Stacey Solomon?

starrynight87 · 15/10/2021 11:01

It's probably a z-lister or influencer Grin

Beseen22 · 15/10/2021 11:02

I met a minor celeb from a longrunning bbc program in a professional setting and I was surprised at how star struck I was. Totally embarrassed by myself. She asked me a question about my work and I could barely get the answer out.

I walked past Joanna lumley once, I acted completely oblivious at the time but once she had passed I was a bit like omg Joanna lumley..

Would they not be better saying, "used to celebrities so they know how to handle the up themselves attitude".

I remember when I was a young teen I was flicking through the channels and there was some shit reality show on the Beckhams. I'm not sure what it's was about but the only exchange I saw was someone saying something about David being good at something, and the nanny agreeing with them and then Victoria saying, "oh, so do you find my husband attractive? Do you like him?" And the nanny stood there looking like a deer in the headlights. What could she say? If she said he was attractive then she'd probably be shouted at. If she said he wasnt, then she'd probably be shouted at. It just looked so awful and the Beckhams looked like dickheads.

I carried on flicking through channels after that, so not sure what happened but it certainly put me off ever being a nanny for celebrities!

I actually think something like that in a work environment should be classed as sexual harassment? Especially when someone is in a position of power (like a boss asking their employee whether they fancy their husband)

It's probably the agency who have said that and not the celebrity!

abricotine · 15/10/2021 11:32

Who is Catherine Ryan 🤣

TheWoleb · 15/10/2021 11:35

@abricotine

She's a comedian. If yours into comedians, she is pretty well known. If you're not then you might have only seen her on panel shows and not actually known who she is.

Theblackdogagain · 15/10/2021 11:37

I'm pretty level headed but I got properly star struck a couple of times. Once was Sir Terry pratchett but I was 19 and young enough not to know better. The other was ewan mcgregror and my face burns how nervous I was.
Other then that I've met and seen lots of others through charity work I used to do and never been such a knob, I hope.

WorraLiberty · 15/10/2021 11:38

The email was from the recruitment agency though, not the celebrities themselves? Confused

That's where I live! There's not that many celebs here but Richard Ayoade and the Sawalha family live round here - seen Richard but not the Sawalhas.
Gonnagetgoing · 15/10/2021 11:39

@DivorceAdvicePlease123

Bet it's some wanker from TOWIE 🤣
If it's Crystal Palace they definitely don't live here - Essex or East End or Romford Wink.
Eaumyword · 15/10/2021 11:44

Hilarious advert! You just know it isn't for George and Amal, it's got to be someone who once won X Factor!Grin
I can imagine the brief - when Mrs Celebrity walks into the room, you must flatten yourself against the wall and avert your eyes. You will address Mrs Celebrity only when you really have to and only by her stage name,' or ma'am.
I'd also like to know how you get 'experience with celebrities' Grin
Is there a bootcamp aversion therapy course you can go on? Asking for a friend...

CatsArePeople · 15/10/2021 11:46

Very bad wording. But I think, if its actual celebrities, the main thing besides experience, would be being discreet.
